Start by identifying the exact Petlibro model, then check power, refill to its marked range, wait for model-specific startup time, verify the pump and tubing are assembled correctly, and clean the pump and impeller. Unplug the fountain before opening or cleaning it. Dockstream WF005 may take up to five minutes to start pumping after connection or a refill. If these checks do not restore flow, use the model manual and contact Petlibro support rather than guessing at a replacement part.
First identify the model and the failure
Find the model number on the fountain or in its manual. The Capsule PLWF002, Dockstream WF005/PLWF005, Dockstream Cordless PLWF115 and other Petlibro fountains use different power connections, water paths, filters and pump assemblies.
Note which symptom you have:
- No power or indicator: begin with the adapter, cable and outlet.
- The pump runs but little or no water appears: check water level, assembly, tubing, filter fit, blockage, mineral scale and the impeller.
- Flow is slow only after a refill or long storage: allow the pump to discharge air before assuming it has failed.
Fix the problem in this order
1. Inspect the power source
Unplug the fountain and examine the cord and adapter for damage. If practical, try a known-working, compatible adapter or cable. Dockstream WF005 guidance specifies a USB-A-to-USB-C cord; do not apply that cable specification to another Petlibro model without checking its manual.
2. Refill to the model’s marked range
Add water before switching the pump on. Capsule guidance warns that water below the minimum level can prevent pumping. For PLWF115, fill between the MIN and MAX marks; running the pump dry can stop it from working.

3. Allow the stated startup time
After refilling or connecting a Dockstream WF005, wait up to five minutes for water to begin circulating. The PLWF115 product FAQ also notes that initial flow can be slow while air leaves the pump after first use or extended storage.
4. Recheck every water-path component
Disassemble only as far as the model instructions allow, then rebuild the route water takes through the fountain.

A pinched tube, reversed pump, misplaced filter tray or loose lid can leave the motor sounding normal while stopping water delivery.
5. Clean the pump and inspect the impeller
Disconnect power before touching the pump. Follow the manual to open it, remove hair and debris, and turn the impeller to check whether it is stuck, damaged or unable to spin freely. For Dockstream WF005, the impeller cap must be installed and the pump cover secured; Petlibro says the pump cannot produce sufficient pressure without the cap.

Petlibro’s Dockstream guidance states: “The pump should be disassembled for cleaning at least every two weeks to ensure proper function.” This is manufacturer maintenance guidance, not an independently measured failure statistic.
6. Remove visible mineral scale
Hard water can leave calcium deposits that stop the impeller. When scale is visible, Dockstream guidance recommends soaking the pump and impeller in white vinegar for 15–30 minutes, then washing fountain parts with soap and water before reassembly. A separate instruction for a pump that has never been cleaned suggests a one-hour soak. Use the duration that matches your model’s manual and the condition described; these are not one universal timing rule.

7. Check the filter
Make sure the filter is seated correctly, clean and approved for the exact fountain model. Petlibro cautions that non-Petlibro white or black foam filters may clog the pump or stop dispensing. Filters are not automatically interchangeable between Petlibro fountains, so verify the model number and replacement schedule.

Consider a replacement pump only after a compatible power check, correct water level, proper reassembly, unobstructed tubing and careful cleaning fail to restore flow. The official guidance identifies the pump as a separate component but does not establish a universal model-to-pump compatibility chart. Match any part by the exact model number or ask Petlibro support.

When to contact Petlibro
Contact support with the model number and a concise description of what happens: whether the indicator works, whether the motor is audible, when the fountain was last cleaned, and which checks you completed. The PLWF115 FAQ specifically directs owners to support when refilling and cleaning do not restart the pump. If you own another model, use its current manual and support route.
Cleaning and prevention checklist
- Clean the pump at least every two weeks for models covered by Petlibro’s guidance.
- Remove hair and debris before they reach the impeller.
- Keep water within the model’s MIN/MAX or other marked range.
- Inspect the silicone tube for kinks whenever flow weakens.
- Replace filters with the exact compatible type and schedule.
- Never run a pump dry, and unplug before disassembly.
Warranty note
Petlibro’s PLWF006 stainless-steel product page states a 24-month warranty for qualifying non-artificial product issues. Coverage and claim requirements can vary with the current warranty policy and your purchase details, so verify those terms before buying a replacement or opening a warranty claim.
