PerthNow reported the figure on February 4, 2024, when the clinic said its doubleviewvet account had about 37,000 followers and more than 700,000 likes. Those are historical figures, not verified current totals.
What happened at Doubleview Vet Centre?
Doubleview Vet Centre began posting on TikTok to show clients what happens after they leave their pets at the practice. By the time of PerthNow’s February 4, 2024 report, individual clips were attracting millions of views. The clinic described one dog-intubation video as reaching approximately 18 million views; ear-plucking videos were said to have reached about 10 million, while other clips approached 20 million.
PerthNow’s figures came from the clinic and were not independently audited. The account had reportedly been running for almost a year, so the story describes a 2024 viral moment rather than a current measurement of the account’s audience.
Doubleview Vet Centre is at 177 Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough, Western Australia. The practice is commonly called a Doubleview clinic because of its local area.

What did the videos show?
The account mixed affectionate everyday footage with technical and sometimes confronting veterinary procedures.
Reassuring day-in-the-clinic moments
- Dogs in the waiting room and staff interacting with patients.
- Pets receiving snacks after surgery.
- Calm handling and routine care around operations and recovery.
Educational procedures
- Endotracheal intubation of a dog.
- Microchipping.
- Placement of intravenous catheters.
- Anaesthetic monitoring and perioperative preparation.
- Injections and other routine treatment steps.
Graphic or potentially confronting footage
- Abscess drainage.
- Ear plucking.
- Eye surgery and other surgical scenes.
Viewers should expect that some material may be unsuitable for children or people who are uncomfortable with blood, wounds or surgical treatment. A short clip also cannot show every clinical decision made for an individual animal.
Why did the clinic start posting?
Practice owner and veterinarian Dr Natalie Rogerson told PerthNow that she saw a gap in Perth-based veterinary social-media content. The clinic wanted owners to see that their pets were being cared for, comforted and monitored while away from them. She described the initial approach as fun and transparent rather than simply a marketing campaign.

Rogerson also said the account became useful as an educational resource for pet owners, veterinary students and nurses. That explains the clinic’s stated motivation; it does not prove why TikTok distributed particular videos so widely.

Why might veterinary procedures attract millions of views?
The appeal is understandable without assuming a single algorithmic cause:
- Most owners never see what happens in a treatment room after drop-off.
- Intubation, catheter placement and anaesthetic equipment are unfamiliar to many pet owners.
- Animals create an immediate emotional connection, while the clinical setting supplies novelty.
- A clip can offer reassurance about calm handling as well as satisfy curiosity about a hidden process.
- The contrast between a cute pet and a technical or graphic procedure creates a strong short-form-video hook.
These are reasonable interpretations, not findings from an audience study. Viral reach also does not mean that every upload performed well or that viewers became long-term clients.

Did TikTok help recruitment and professional recognition?
Rogerson said the account produced practical benefits beyond views. The clinic received job applications from people who had discovered the practice through TikTok. She also said staff at other veterinary clinics recognised Doubleview when contacting it about shared patients or medical histories.
She linked some of the account’s appeal to viewers seeing the clinic’s anaesthetic monitoring and standards of care. That is her assessment, not an independent audit. The available reporting does not establish that TikTok increased revenue, bookings, patient numbers or clinical outcomes.

Who owns the practice?
PerthNow reported that Dr Natalie Rogerson, Dr Francesca Harold and Dr Kate Buffin became owners in 2022, after the death of the previous owner, Dr Karen Bomford. The clinic’s current website presents Buffin, Harold and Rogerson as the practice doctors and describes Doubleview Vet Centre as proudly privately owned.

What the clinic currently provides
The clinic’s own website currently says it treats dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs and is open seven days a week, subject to public-holiday closures. Its listed facilities and services include:
- A surgical theatre and anaesthetic monitoring.
- Digital radiography and dental X-ray.
- Ultrasound and an in-house laboratory.
- Preventative-health packages branded VIPaws.
- Gold-accredited Cat Friendly clinic status.
These current practice details provide context, but they do not update the follower, like or view figures reported in 2024.

Publishing real patient care creates responsibilities that are easy to overlook when a clip becomes entertainment. The available report does not establish Doubleview’s detailed filming, consent or approval policy, so it would be wrong to assume either that safeguards were absent or that every case followed the same process.

Any clinic sharing treatment footage should be able to answer questions such as:
- Did the owner consent before an identifiable animal or case was posted?
- Were names, microchip numbers, medical records and recognisable backgrounds removed?
- Did staff consent to appearing on camera?
- Were graphic scenes warned, edited or restricted?
- Do captions explain the procedure’s purpose and limits rather than relying on shock value?
TikTok’s privacy and security guidance and rules on sensitive and mature themes are relevant because public posts can be copied and shared beyond the original account. TikTok also describes visibility and interaction settings through its privacy tools and community controls; options can vary by region and app version.
Why a TikTok video is not veterinary advice
Showing a procedure can explain what owners may see at a clinic, but it cannot determine what another animal needs. The same symptom may have different causes, and a procedure appropriate for one patient may be unsafe for another. Owners should not attempt intubation, catheter placement, wound drainage or other clinical work from a social-media video. For illness, emergencies or postoperative concerns, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic.
The lasting significance of the viral account
Doubleview Vet Centre’s story is unusual because it made an ordinarily invisible part of pet ownership visible. The account combined reassurance, professional education and graphic reality, which helped a local practice reach audiences far beyond Scarborough. It also illustrates the limits of viral healthcare content: attention can support recruitment and recognition, but view counts do not prove superior care, financial success or universal consent.
