A video reported on March 7, 2024, was described as showing leopards moving through staff housing at Ordnance Factory Khamaria in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Scroll reproduced uploader Anil Talwar’s caption, dated March 6: “Last night at10pm,Staff quarters Ordnance Factory, Khamaria, Jabalpur.” The reports do not independently establish the animals’ exact number, relationship, response by officials, or what happened afterward.
What the March 2024 reports say
Scroll’s March 7 video item presented the footage as showing “several leopards” in residential quarters. The location and time came from the uploader’s caption rather than an identified official incident record. The caption’s “last night” wording places the filming at about 10 p.m. on March 5–6, 2024, depending on when it was posted; Scroll reproduces the post as dated March 6.
LatestLY’s report, also dated March 7, described four leopards moving through the residential area. That is a report of what the video was said to show, not an independently verified wildlife count.
What is—and is not—established
| Source | Account | What it establishes | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scroll, March 7, 2024 | “Several leopards”; reproduces Anil Talwar’s caption | The video circulated with a caption placing it at Ordnance Factory Khamaria staff quarters in Jabalpur at about 10 p.m. the previous night. | It does not verify a precise count, the animals’ sexes or ages, or that they were related. |
| LatestLY, March 7, 2024 | Four leopards; says authorities took action | It records those descriptions in its account of the video. | It names no authority and gives no details of the action or the animals’ eventual disposition. |
Consequently, “family of leopards” is a headline-style description, not a confirmed finding that the animals were a family. The two reports also should not be treated as a verified disagreement that can be resolved by counting animals in the available coverage.

What happened after the video?
LatestLY says the footage prompted authorities to act, but does not identify the agency or explain whether officials inspected the site, monitored the animals, attempted capture, or took another step. The reports reviewed contain no confirmed account of rescue, relocation, capture, injury, or return to nearby habitat.
There is likewise no official forest-department statement or factory incident record in these accounts. The item therefore documents circulation of a particular video, not a current status update or proof of repeated leopard incursions at the facility.

How to read the “roams freely” claim
Descriptions such as “roams freely in residential quarters” communicate that the animals appeared to move through occupied staff housing without an immediately visible barrier in the footage. They do not, by themselves, establish how long the animals were present, whether residents were nearby, whether anyone was threatened, or the level of ongoing risk.
Nothing in the two brief reports supports extrapolating a broader trend for Jabalpur, Ordnance Factory Khamaria, or leopard behavior generally. Any assessment of public safety or wildlife management would require dated statements or records from the responsible authorities.
