Vbot’s Companion Robotic Dog is a real quadruped robot, sold in China as the Vbot SuperDog. It combines dog-like movement and voice interaction with autonomous following, camera mounting, carrying, and other assistant-style functions. It is not a proven substitute for a living dog, and international buyers still need clearer information on price, shipping, warranty, privacy, and support.
What is the Vbot Companion Robotic Dog?
Vbot is the consumer-robotics brand of Vita Dynamics / Vita Power (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. Its product appears under several names: “Vbot Companion Robotic Dog” in English-language CES coverage, “Vbot SuperDog” in launch coverage, and “Vbot 超能机器狗” in Chinese. Vbot’s Chinese materials also use the nickname “大头.” The company describes its work as consumer embodied intelligence for everyday spaces (Vbot).
The most useful way to understand the robot is as a mobile embodied-AI platform designed to feel like a companion. Its four-legged form, expressive movements, voice interaction, and tendency to follow a person are pet-inspired. Its practical pitch is broader: it can navigate, carry items, tow a small cart, carry a camera, and be managed remotely through an app. That makes it unlike a conventional plush or robotic pet—and unlike a biological dog.
What can it do?

Vbot describes the SuperDog as able to follow its owner, stay nearby, respond to voice, and perform playful movements such as dances or tricks. Its launch materials also describe accompanying people indoors and outdoors. These are product claims; public evidence does not establish that the robot forms or provides the same emotional bond as a living dog.

Hands-free camera platform
The robot can carry or mount a camera and follow a person to capture footage. That could be useful for hikers, families, solo travelers, and content creators who want a moving camera operator. Vbot’s platform is only part of the setup: image quality, stabilization, framing, recording controls, and compatibility depend on the camera and accessories used. Vbot advertises a standard 1/4-inch camera thread, magnetic interface, USB Type-C data connection, and expansion backplate (Vbot).
Helper and remote-monitoring device
Vbot has described carrying, navigation, household assistance, remote video, and two-way interaction through its app. This does not make it a professional security system. Public information does not establish certified intrusion detection, guaranteed surveillance coverage, emergency response, or dependable operation during network outages. Its carrying function is also distinct from towing: CES materials separately cite a payload of up to 12 kg and towing of up to 100 kg, both company claims whose real-world limits depend on conditions (Vbot’s CES announcement).
How does it navigate and respond?
Vbot describes a sensor-fusion system that includes binocular or depth vision, LiDAR, microphones, UWB positioning or tracking, interaction lights and displays, and night lighting. Product-tracking coverage specifies a 16-line LiDAR system. The company also describes a 128 TOPS edge-AI platform and a spatial foundation model combining body, spatial, and agent intelligence (Vbot; UI44’s product tracking).

Vbot’s “no remote control” pitch means a user can give natural-language commands rather than continually steering the robot with a joystick. CES and company materials describe commands and behaviors such as following a person, going to a destination, finding or identifying something, carrying an item, capturing video, or performing an action (Vbot’s CES announcement).

What did Vbot demonstrate at CES 2026?
At CES in Las Vegas, Vbot showed the SuperDog navigating exhibition halls, following people, avoiding obstacles, carrying beverages on an expansion platform, and following a user with an action camera mounted on the robot. The company cited a payload of up to 12 kg and towing of up to 100 kg. TechNode also covered the robot’s CES appearance and camera use (TechNode).

These are demonstrations and manufacturer claims, not independent proof of everyday performance. An exhibition hall is not a cluttered home, a wet sidewalk, a stairway, or a park full of moving people and animals. What does the app do?
The Vbot iPhone app is listed as free and requires iOS 17.0 or later. Its App Store description includes remote connection and robot management, autonomous movement and leader modes, speed-limit adjustment, performance actions such as waving and spinning, avatar or digital-twin functions, remote HD video, remote movement and speaking, photography, status settings, and over-the-air updates. Vita Power (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. is listed as the seller. The listing says there are not enough ratings to show an overview, so it does not provide a substantial public user-review base (Vbot on the App Store).

The same App Store listing says the developer may collect identifiers, usage data, diagnostics, coarse location, and crash data. Apple’s privacy labels are developer-provided and are not an independent privacy audit. The listing does not, by itself, answer whether video, voice recordings, household maps, or remote-control data are processed locally, uploaded, or retained.

English-language reports have cited estimates of about $1,400 and about $4,000 for a global edition, but those figures conflict and neither is a confirmed U.S. MSRP. Treat them as unverified estimates, not a basis for budgeting (Phandroid; UI44). A global rollout announcement does not confirm that orders are being accepted in a particular country.

A living dog
Vbot avoids biological-pet chores such as feeding, shedding, litter or feces, flea treatment, and veterinary care. It is not maintenance-free: owners should still expect charging, software updates, battery care, sensor and foot cleaning, accessory upkeep, troubleshooting, and possible repairs. Its movement and voice responses may be engaging, but available evidence does not establish the emotional bond, tactile interaction, or unpredictable social behavior of a living dog.
A professional security system
Remote video and movement can be useful for checking on a space, but there is no public basis to rely on the SuperDog for certified intrusion detection, emergency response, or guaranteed surveillance coverage.

A cleaning robot
If the goal is reducing household chores, a robot vacuum or mop has a narrower, clearer job and a more mature consumer market. Vbot’s carrying and companion features do not make it a cleaning device.
Safety, privacy, and ownership questions to resolve
- Navigation and household hazards: Ask how the robot handles stairs, glass doors, reflective surfaces, rugs, cables, low furniture, poor lighting, wet floors, and network outages. CES demonstrations do not establish safe operation around toddlers, animals, stairs, traffic, or strangers.
- Weather and terrain: Confirm the global model’s weather-resistance rating and permitted surfaces before using it outdoors; public material cited here does not establish all-weather capability.
- Video, voice, and maps: Ask whether footage, voice recordings, location data, or household maps are processed locally, uploaded, or retained; how remote access works; and how data can be deleted.
- Connectivity and subscriptions: Confirm whether the robot works offline and whether remote video, AI services, storage, or cellular connectivity carry recurring fees. No subscription price was established in the published app listing.
- Accessories: Check which camera models and expansion accessories are officially supported, and whether a camera, cargo platform, or towing attachment is included or sold separately. Vbot’s site describes the mounting thread, magnetic interface, Type-C port, and expansion backplate, but possibilities such as a mechanical arm, tennis-ball launcher, or camping cart should not be assumed to be included in the base package (Vbot).
- Repairs and warranty: Verify return terms, replacement-battery cost, parts availability, repair logistics, and warranty coverage in your country. Chinese launch coverage mentioned lifetime warranty benefits for founding buyers; that does not establish the terms for global customers (Cygnus Equity).
- Phone compatibility: The cited public app listing is for iPhone and requires iOS 17.0 or later. Confirm Android availability, regional app access, and feature parity if you do not use a compatible iPhone (App Store listing).
