iHeartDogs reported that Gregory and Victoria Hudler, described in the article as veterans, had been searching for Jodie for about two years. After Victoria delivered her first child, the couple entrusted Jodie to a family member without their consent. The article says someone allegedly purchased Jodie from that family member without permission; it does not provide independent evidence about the transfer.

About two years later, the Hudlers received a call from a shelter in Knoxville, Tennessee, after Jodie was found there. According to iHeartDogs, information on Jodie’s microchip helped shelter staff identify her family. The article does not name the shelter or describe the microchip brand or lookup process.
How Wings of Rescue helped bring Jodie home
iHeartDogs reported that Wings of Rescue picked Jodie up from the Knoxville shelter. She traveled with a transport carrying 130 dogs from Mississippi to New Jersey, where she reunited with the Hudlers. The article describes an emotional greeting and attributes its embedded video to Wings of Rescue.

What is known—and unknown—about Jodie’s journey
The reporting does not explain how Jodie reached the Knoxville shelter, so that part of her journey remains unclear. The details about the two-year separation, microchip identification, route and 130-dog transport come from iHeartDogs’ June 28, 2022 account, which attributes the story to a Wings of Rescue Facebook video. The video and underlying shelter or transport records were not independently reviewed here. A December 5, 2024 iHeartDogs article retells the same central account, but it is not separate corroboration.
