Short answer: Nylabone’s “real meats” collection is a range of non-edible Strong Chew toys, not edible meat treats. The available product information describes chicken-and-bacon Original Bones and a bison-and-venison Femur, but it does not establish how long they last for heavy chewers. The four-week test named in the original title cannot be verified from the available review evidence, so this article does not present firsthand wear or engagement results.
What the “real meats” label means
Nylabone’s November 18, 2025 announcement described a collection made with real chicken, bison, venison, bacon, and beef. The announcement named four shapes: Original Bone, Textured Ring, Femur, and Comfort-Hold Wishbone. At the time, Nylabone said the collection was available on Amazon.com and Chewy.com; that dated statement does not confirm current stock.
The official Strong Chew product descriptions identify particular meat pairings, but the information available here does not map every meat to every shape. “Real meats” therefore identifies a collection, not a single toy or a promise that each product contains all five meats.

Does the evidence show how long one lasts?
No. The title “Our 4-Week Test with a Heavy Chewer” identifies a review, but the review page’s test results could not be verified. There are no substantiated observations here about how many dogs used a toy, how often they chewed, visible wear, breakage, or continued interest. There is also no verified performance statistic that would support a lifespan estimate.
That means a heavy-chewer owner should treat “Strong Chew” as the manufacturer’s product classification, not a measured guarantee of how long a particular dog will take to damage a toy. Individual chewing behavior varies, and the available evidence does not support a promise that any variant will withstand every dog.

How to choose a size and supervise use
Nylabone’s directions say to select a toy according to the dog’s age, weight, and chewing strength, and to choose for the strongest chewer in a multi-dog household. For non-edible toys, the company says the toy should be large enough to encourage chewing from the sides rather than from top to bottom.
- Check the product’s own size guidance. Do not assume a size range for one shape applies to another. The documented small Original Bone is listed for dogs up to 25 pounds.
- Consider the dog’s chewing style as well as weight. If several dogs could use the toy, follow the direction to choose for the strongest chewer.
- Supervise every use. Nylabone instructs owners to supervise the dog while it uses the toy.
- Inspect before use and frequently afterward. Replace the toy if it becomes worn, damaged, or small enough to present a concern.
- Call a veterinarian if a piece is swallowed. This is the manufacturer’s direction for a swallowed piece.
These are manufacturer instructions, not a guarantee that a toy is safe for every dog or every chewing pattern. If you are unsure whether a particular size or condition is appropriate for your dog, ask your veterinarian.

Don’t confuse the toy with Nylabone’s edible treat
Healthy Edibles Meaty Center is a separate edible treat, not a real-meat Strong Chew toy. Its product page lists wheat starch, glycerin, natural flavor, beet powder, dried chicken, powdered cellulose, lecithin, and natural beef flavor; its small treats are listed for dogs up to 30 pounds. Those ingredients and that weight listing do not describe the non-edible Strong Chew products.
Power Chew Textured Bone is another separate product: a tough-nylon toy with flavor infused throughout, described for extreme chewing styles. Its material and classification do not establish the composition or durability of the real-meat Strong Chew collection.
