That is an editorial score—not a veterinary nutrition standard. For its adult dry recipe, the manufacturer lists turkey and egg alongside substantial pea and potato ingredients, and says the food is formulated for adult maintenance. Whether it suits an individual cat depends on that cat’s needs, not the score alone.
How Cats.com scored NOW FRESH
Cats.com evaluates six categories and gives NOW FRESH these scores:
| Category | Cats.com score |
|---|---|
| Species appropriateness | 5/10 |
| Ingredient quality | 9/10 |
| Product variety | 7/10 |
| Price | 6/10 |
| Customer experience | 8/10 |
| Recall history | 6/10 |
| Overall | 6.2/10 (37/60), grade B− |
Ingredient quality is the review’s highest category score; species appropriateness is its lowest. Those ratings reflect Cats.com’s criteria and interpretation, not an independent nutrition assessment. The review says NOW FRESH had never been recalled and notes a 2003 recall involving Petcurean’s Go! Natural brand. Cats.com identifies NOW FRESH as a brand created by Petcurean, a Canadian pet food company founded in 1999. The review is not a comprehensive audit of current regulatory recall records. Cats.com highlights the named animal ingredients as well as the recipe’s peas, potatoes, potato flour, pea fiber, and plant oils, and characterizes it as plant-heavy and high in carbohydrates.
