Release it when the light bar turns blue. If Sleep Mode keeps returning, disable or edit its schedule in the Whisker app under Controls → Sleep Mode.
Turn off Sleep Mode from the control panel
- Wait until the globe is in its normal Home position.
- Press and hold the Cycle button—the one marked with a circular-arrow symbol—for 3 seconds. Do not use Power, Reset, Empty, or Connect.
- Release the button when the light bar changes from purple to blue.
Blue indicates Sleep Mode is off and the robot is back in normal Ready/Automatic operation. If you issue the command outside the active sleep period, the bar may flash purple briefly rather than change from solid purple to blue. This button shortcut toggles the default eight-hour Sleep Mode, which repeats every 24 hours from the time it was first enabled. Litter-Robot 4 manual

Disable or change the schedule in the Whisker app
- Open the Whisker app and select your Litter-Robot 4.
- Tap Controls, then Sleep Mode.
- Turn Sleep Mode off or edit the schedule so it will not run when you do not want it to.
The app supports weekday and weekend schedules. Use it if Sleep Mode comes back regularly: a one-time button toggle may not remove a recurring schedule. Whisker’s not-cycling guidance
What the purple light means
On the Litter-Robot 4, a purple light bar indicates Sleep Mode is active; blue indicates Sleep Mode is disabled. Sleep Mode does not power down the robot. It suppresses automatic cleaning for the configured period while the unit continues monitoring for cat usage. If it detects use, a Clean cycle may run after Sleep Mode ends; turning Sleep Mode off does not necessarily start a cycle immediately. Whisker’s purple-light support article

If you want to start a cycle yourself, a normal press of the Cycle button starts a Clean cycle when the unit is ready and no other status or safety condition is preventing it. That is different from holding the button for three seconds to toggle Sleep Mode. Control-panel button functions
Sleep Mode and Cycle Delay are different

If Sleep Mode will not turn off
- Repeat the button command. Confirm you are holding Cycle—not another control—for the full three seconds.
- Check the light response. Look for blue, or a brief purple flash if the command was accepted outside the sleep period.
- Check the app schedule. In the robot’s Controls → Sleep Mode settings, disable or adjust recurring weekday/weekend schedules.
- Confirm the globe is at Home and the unit is assembled correctly.
- Escalate if the bar stays solid purple. Refresh the device status in the app, then use Whisker’s troubleshooting tool or contact support. A persistent purple light after the disable attempt may indicate an issue, but does not by itself identify a specific fault. Whisker support guidance
If the light is not purple but the robot still is not cycling, Sleep Mode may not be the cause. Check the app for other status or sensor indicators and follow the relevant troubleshooting steps. These instructions are specifically for Litter-Robot 4; older models use different indicators and procedures.

How long is the default Litter-Robot 4 Sleep Mode?
The Cycle-button shortcut uses a default eight-hour period that repeats every 24 hours, based on when Sleep Mode was first enabled. The app supports configurable weekday and weekend schedules.

Does turning off Sleep Mode start a Clean cycle immediately?
Not necessarily. Disabling Sleep Mode restores normal operation, but does not guarantee an immediate cycle. To request one, press Cycle normally when the unit is ready.
Can I turn off Sleep Mode without Wi-Fi?
Yes. You can use the control-panel shortcut: with the globe at Home, hold Cycle for three seconds. The app is useful for managing recurring schedules.

Is every purple light on a Litter-Robot 4 Sleep Mode?
Purple indicates Sleep Mode, but if the bar remains solid purple after you try to disable it, Whisker recommends troubleshooting or contacting support. A different light or status may point to another reason the unit is not cycling.
