Fi Mini is an attachable GPS and health tracker for small dogs and cats. It clips to a compatible collar or harness and adds live location, escape alerts, activity and sleep tracking. The important purchase qualifications are that GPS/LTE features require a recurring Fi plan, cellular coverage varies by location, and the attachment must fit your individual pet safely.

What is Fi Mini?

Fi Mini is designed to attach to an existing collar or harness rather than replace it. Fi lists GPS/LTE-M live tracking, location history, escape alerts, geofencing, activity tracking and sleep monitoring among its features.

Fi’s launch announcement describes the tracker as weighing 0.56 ounces and fitting collar or harness widths from 3/8 inch to 1 inch. Those are Fi specifications, not independent measurements. The box is listed as including five silicone cases and a USB-C charging cable.

Which pets and collars does it fit?

Small dogs and puppies

Fi positions Mini for small dogs and puppies. Before ordering, measure the strap or attachment point on the collar or harness and confirm it falls within Fi’s stated 3/8-inch-to-1-inch range.

#1 Best Overall
Fi Mini GPS Cat Tracker, Collar Attachment, 1-Month Membership Included
  • GPS THAT CLIPS ONTO THEIR OWN COLLAR: The Fi Mini attaches to the collar your cat already wears and shows their live location in the Fi app, with nationwide coverage and no range limit, so an open door never turns into days of searching the neighborhood.
  • FIRST MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP INCLUDED: Unbox, clip on, pair with the Fi app, and live tracking works the same day. Membership renews after the included first month to keep GPS service active.
  • ESCAPE ALERTS AND VIRTUAL FENCES: Set safe zones around home or the yard and get notified the instant your cat leaves one. Household members can share the app, so everyone is alerted together.
  • ACTIVITY, STEPS, AND REST: The Fi app counts daily steps, tracks active minutes, and logs rest, so you can see how much your cat actually roams and notice changes in routine. A genuine health and activity monitor for cats, not just a location dot on a map.
  • LIGHTWEIGHT AND WATERPROOF: Designed to stay small and light on the collar, with a waterproof build made for cats that go where they please, indoors and out.

Cats and kittens

Fi explicitly markets Mini for cats and maintains a dedicated “Fi Mini for Cats” support topic. That establishes cats as an intended use, but it does not prove a comfortable or secure fit for every cat. Use a properly fitted, cat-appropriate breakaway collar where appropriate, and check that the tracker cannot interfere with normal movement or the collar’s safety release.

How the GPS service works

Fi identifies Verizon LTE-M as the cellular network for Mini. GPS tracking therefore depends on both satellite positioning and usable cellular service where the pet is located. Cellular coverage can be weak or unavailable in remote areas; no tracker can guarantee a location update everywhere.

Fi requires a GPS/LTE plan selected during activation for all its products. The hardware price alone is not the complete cost of ownership. Check the current plan options and renewal terms at checkout, because rates and offers can change.

You do not need to treat the device as a replacement for a microchip, visible identification tag or a secure collar. A tracker is an additional recovery tool, not a guarantee that a lost pet can be found.

Battery life and charging

Fi claims up to six weeks of battery life, or up to two months when used with the Fi Base. These are company specifications rather than independent test results. Actual runtime can vary with tracking frequency, cellular conditions, activity and temperature.

  • Charge the tracker before relying on it outside the home.
  • Build charging into a routine and check the battery in the Fi app.
  • Expect more frequent charging when live tracking or difficult connectivity keeps the device active.

Features Fi lists

Feature What it is intended to do Qualification
Live GPS/LTE-M location Shows a pet’s current or recent position when the device can obtain a fix and connect. Requires an active Fi GPS/LTE plan and usable coverage.
Location history Records previous reported locations for reviewing movement. Reports depend on successful location and network updates.
Escape alerts and geofencing Notifies you when a pet leaves a configured safe area. Alert timing depends on connectivity and device settings.
Activity and sleep tracking Provides health-oriented activity and rest information. Fi product claims; not a veterinary diagnosis.

What does Fi Mini cost?

Fi’s product page displayed a promotional price of $69.30 against a $99 reference price when retrieved on September 27, 2026. That is a time-sensitive price snapshot, not a guaranteed current offer. Verify the hardware price immediately before buying and add the required recurring GPS/LTE plan to your ownership-cost calculation.

Fit and coverage checklist before buying

  1. Measure the attachment area. Confirm the collar or harness strap is between 3/8 inch and 1 inch, using Fi’s stated range.
  2. Choose safe hardware. For cats, use a correctly fitted breakaway collar when suitable; for any pet, ensure the attachment is secure without restricting movement.
  3. Map your normal travel area. Consider whether the pet spends time indoors, in suburbs, on farms or in remote terrain where LTE-M coverage may be limited.
  4. Price the service. Review the current Fi plan at activation and account for recurring renewals.
  5. Plan charging. Decide where the tracker will be charged and how you will check its battery before walks or travel.

Who should consider Fi Mini?

Fi Mini makes the most sense for a small dog or cat whose owner wants GPS-based escape alerts and activity information while keeping an existing collar or harness. It is less suitable if your pet’s equipment falls outside the stated width range, if reliable cellular coverage is unavailable in the places the pet travels, or if you want a tracker with no ongoing subscription.

Fi founder and CEO Jonathan Bensamoun said the product was intended to avoid making owners replace a collar they already like: “Pet parents shouldn’t have to sacrifice style for safety or replace a collar they love just to get professional GPS tracking.” The practical test is whether that existing collar is safe, compatible and comfortable for your individual animal.
