Martin Klima, a co-founder of Warhorse Studios, says the Grand Theft Auto series does not appeal to him and that he does not understand its popularity. Yet he hopes GTA 6 can give publishers cover to charge more for games. Those are two separate views: his personal dislike of the series and his argument that higher prices would help the business.
Why does Klima want GTA 6 to push prices up if he does not like the series?
In an interview with PC Gamer, as reported by Josh Challies at Insider Gaming on October 2, 2026, Klima said, “The Grand Theft Auto series doesn’t appeal to me at all.” He added that he would not play GTA 6 unless somehow forced to, and that its popularity “beats me.”

His lack of personal interest did not keep him from praising the games as technological marvels. Klima’s point about price is an industry argument, not an endorsement of GTA: he believes a blockbuster from Rockstar and Take-Two could take the risk of raising a game’s unit price, potentially making it easier for other publishers to do the same.
He described a price increase as long overdue and necessary for the business to survive, saying publishers are afraid to make that move. That is Klima’s view; the report does not establish it as an industry consensus or show that other publishers will follow.

What prices does the report give for GTA 6?
Insider Gaming’s report lists these edition prices and compares the Standard Edition with what it calls a common console AAA price baseline:

On those reported figures, the Standard Edition is $10 above the cited baseline. They are secondary-report figures, not an official Rockstar or Take-Two price announcement. The report identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the planned platforms.

Could GTA 6 change what other games cost?
Klima hopes it can. His reasoning is that Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two, are unusually positioned to test a higher price, and that success could make other publishers less hesitant. He put it this way: “The last thing you can do is increase the unit price. That would help a lot, but everybody’s scared to death about it. Now, hopefully, GTA will blaze the trail, and it will allow us to increase the cost.”
That remains a hope rather than a forecast. One game’s price does not establish what other publishers will charge: budgets, audiences, and business decisions differ, and the report offers no evidence that the industry will adopt a higher standard.
