What Catbula Pro was supposed to do
The launch announcement presented Catbula Pro as an automated, self-cleaning litter box for owners who want less daily scooping. After a cat uses it, the system is described as separating feces and clumped waste, moving that waste into a storage area, and sealing it inside a disposable bag.
FurBuilt also claimed a spacious interior, an enclosed odor-containment structure, safety sensors that stop cleaning when a cat is detected, biodegradable waste bags, and low electricity consumption. What “auto-pack” really means
“Auto-pack” appears to describe automatic bagging or sealing of removed waste. It should not be read as a promise that the machine:

Odor control: sealed waste is not the same as an odorless home
Sealing feces quickly can reduce odor between waste-bin changes. However, “odorless” is an advertising description, not an independently demonstrated result. Urine odor can remain in litter, seals, interior surfaces, the waste path, or the floor around the unit. A full compartment may also smell strongly when opened.

Real-world odor performance would depend on litter type, ventilation, cleaning frequency, number of cats, how quickly waste is sealed, and how often bags and interior parts are replaced. No automatic litter box should be assumed to be completely odor-free without controlled testing.

Promotional material described Catbula Pro as roomy and suitable for cats of different sizes, including large breeds. Yanko Design reported the 20-liter waste container and the 14–21-day disposal estimate, depending on usage and the number of cats. Those details are useful leads, not confirmed specifications.
Before buying, verify the internal dimensions, entrance size, usable litter-bed area, maximum cat weight, and whether the moving mechanism reduces the available space. A large cat must be able to enter, turn around, squat, and exit without its body or tail contacting moving parts. “Suitable for large cats” is too broad without those measurements.

Open-top or conventional oversized boxes may be a better fit for senior cats, anxious cats, or cats that dislike enclosed spaces. During a transition, keep the old box available and do not remove every conventional box immediately.
Safety and health-monitoring claims
The launch announcement says multiple sensors detect a cat and stop the cleaning cycle. Yanko Design also mentioned camera monitoring, radar, hardware and software protection, and AI-based health insights through a smartphone app. Yanko Design’s report should be treated as promotional or secondary coverage rather than a safety test.
The available sources do not establish the sensor manufacturer, detection accuracy, minimum cat size, kitten mode, pinch-point protection, recognized safety certification, or what happens after a sensor fault or power interruption. They also do not establish whether camera footage or app data is stored in the cloud, whether the box works without Wi-Fi, or whether software support will continue.
Kittens and very small cats deserve particular caution if detection depends partly on weight or body presence. A cat with urinary or gastrointestinal illness may also need closer human observation; app-based usage data should not replace veterinary care.
It is still not maintenance-free
Even if the waste mechanism works as described, owners should expect to:
- add and level litter;
- replace waste bags;
- clean the interior, seals, and waste path;
- inspect and wipe sensors;
- deal with tracking and litter scatter;
- clear jams or incomplete cycles;
- remove residue from diarrhea or soft stool; and
- confirm that each cat is actually using the machine.
The announcement supports automated waste removal—not the complete elimination of cleaning. Never put hands into a moving mechanism, and disconnect power before cleaning or clearing a suspected jam.

Litter, bags, and the true cost of ownership
The available evidence does not confirm whether Catbula Pro supports clumping clay, tofu, silica, wood, or crystal litter. It also does not establish proprietary bag dimensions, replacement-bag prices, third-party compatibility, bag availability by country, expected bag consumption, or whether a subscription is required.
These are important buying questions. A low initial pledge can become expensive if the machine requires proprietary consumables, international shipping, taxes, or unavailable replacement parts. Ask for the exact supported litter types, bag measurements, price per roll, estimated usage per cat, and a non-subscription purchase option.
What the Kickstarter offer actually established
Yanko Design reported a November 2024 promotional price of $219, compared with a stated $399 price, more than $49,000 raised at the time, and a scarcity message showing 28 of 150 units remaining. These were time-sensitive campaign figures. They are not a current 2026 price, stock claim, or proof that rewards were delivered.
The launch announcement linked to the Catbula Pro Kickstarter page and identified Purpetes Tech Co., Limited, based in Hong Kong, as the company behind the product. That does not by itself establish the campaign creator’s manufacturing capacity, factory partner, fulfillment provider, warranty entity, or customer-service history.

Before backing or buying, look for a dated creator update showing production and shipment progress, destination-specific shipping and duty terms, a functioning support channel, a written warranty, refund rules, replacement-part availability, and evidence that real customers received working units. If the page is only an archive, treat the Kickstarter link as historical information—not a normal “buy now” page.
