Life360 launched its Pet GPS tracker on October 22, 2025, bringing dogs and cats onto the same map families use for people and other devices. It is a cellular GPS tracker—not a subscription-free Bluetooth tag—and real-time tracking requires the device plus a Life360 Gold or Platinum membership. That makes the price and coverage worth checking before you buy.
What Life360 launched
Life360 announced Pet GPS on October 22, 2025. The tracker reports a pet’s location in the Life360 app, so a household can view pets alongside family members and compatible devices. At launch, Life360 listed availability in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand; check the current purchase flow for availability where you live.
The system combines LTE-M cellular connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth Long Range and Wi-Fi. GPS helps determine location, while the cellular connection lets the device send it to the app beyond Bluetooth range. Life360 describes the service as offering worldwide LTE GPS coverage, but says performance depends on network availability and signal strength. That is not a guarantee of service in every country, rural area, building or other place with poor compatible coverage.
Life360’s launch announcement said location updates could arrive as often as every two to four seconds away from home. Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed interval: connection quality and conditions can affect updates. This is fundamentally different from a Bluetooth-only tag, which typically relies on nearby phones or a participating device network rather than a tracker’s own cellular connection.

Features and specifications
In the Life360 app, owners can set Places and receive arrival, departure or escape alerts, create a profile with a pet’s name and photo, and use the tracker’s built-in safety light and audible ring or chime to help find a nearby pet. Life360 also says one Gold or Platinum membership can cover multiple Pet GPS trackers. Confirm device limits and any fees in the current checkout flow.
| Specification | Life360 Pet GPS |
|---|---|
| Connectivity | LTE-M, GPS, Bluetooth Long Range and Wi-Fi |
| Battery estimate | Up to 14 days under average use |
| Reserve Mode estimate | Up to six months in Bluetooth Reserve Mode |
| Weight | 28 g for the device; 33.7 g with attachment |
| Size | About 37 × 50 × 15 mm for the device |
| Water resistance | IP68; rated to 5 feet (1.5 m) |
| Collar fit | Collars up to 1.25 inches wide |
| Phone compatibility | iOS 17.2 or later; Android 12 or later |
| Colors | Black, Navy Blaze and Pink Punch |
| Charging | USB-C cable included |
Life360 lists separate measurements for the tracker and for the tracker with its attachment; those figures describe different configurations. The attachment adds weight and bulk, so assess the complete fit on your pet’s collar rather than the tracker alone. The listed weight with attachment—about 33.7 g—may be substantial for a kitten, small cat or toy-sized dog. Life360 markets the unit for dogs and cats, but its published materials do not establish a minimum pet weight or compatibility with every breakaway collar. Check fit and comfort carefully, and ask your veterinarian if you are unsure.
Battery life: 14 days is not six months of live tracking
Life360 advertises up to 14 days per charge under average use. Actual battery life can vary with how often the tracker reports, movement, weak cellular reception, temperature and alert activity. Its up-to-six-month figure applies to Bluetooth Reserve Mode, which prioritizes battery life over tracking performance. Life360 warns that accuracy may decrease in low-power mode; Reserve Mode should not be mistaken for months of ordinary live GPS tracking.
Set a regular charging routine and check the app’s device status before travel or letting a pet roam. A tracker with a depleted battery cannot send useful location updates.
What it costs—and why the membership matters
The device’s announced MSRP was $49.99. Its launch promotion in October 2025 offered it for $3.60, but that was an introductory offer, not a price to assume is still available. Check the current product checkout for the hardware price and any applicable fees.

Live tracking requires an active Gold or Platinum membership. Life360’s U.S. plans page displays Gold at $16.99 per month and Platinum at $24.99 per month when billed monthly. Its Pet GPS page has also advertised Gold at $12.49 per month plus tax with a one-year commitment. Those are different billing options, not interchangeable prices: compare the total commitment, taxes and renewal terms shown at checkout. Existing eligible members can apply their paid Circle at purchase; Life360 says the checkout removes the extra membership charge for an existing eligible plan.
Life360 announced a $79.99 activation fee for each additional device, with the first device added to a Circle exempt. Because this is a launch-era fee signal, verify whether it still applies and how it is calculated before adding trackers. For a first-year budget, add the current device price, the required membership for the chosen billing term, taxes and any activation fee; do not base the calculation on the expired-or-unconfirmed $3.60 promotion. If you already pay for Gold or Platinum, the incremental cost may be lower, but the membership still has an ongoing cost.
For current plan details, see Life360’s membership pricing page. The free Pet Finder Network described below is a separate service; it does not make the paid tracker’s real-time location feature free.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Pet Finder Network: helpful community alerts, not a search guarantee
Life360’s Pet Finder Network is a community-based lost-pet alert feature. When an owner reports a pet missing, nearby Life360 users may be notified and asked to help search. Life360 describes the network as free, while live tracking requires the paid tracker-and-membership bundle.
Its usefulness depends on how many Life360 users are nearby and able to help. It is not professional search-and-rescue coverage, and it cannot make up for a dead battery, poor cellular service or a tracker that has come off the collar. The reviewed materials do not establish exactly how owner contact details are handled, so check the service’s current privacy information before relying on a particular contact process.

- REAL-TIME GPS TRACKING & UNLIMITED RANGE: Connects to multiple satellite systems for accurate live location updates through the Pawfit app. Its built-in multi-network SIM and 4G technology let you track your cat across across Europe, North America and beyond wherever mobile network coverage is available.
- SMART SAFETY ALERTS: Create virtual safe zones and receive instant escape notifications if your cat leaves a designated area. The built-in LED light improves visibility during evening walks and in low-light conditions.
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN & SAFETY COLLAR: Weighing less than 18g, Pawfit Lite is designed for comfortable everyday wear and includes a Pawfit breakaway collar. Its waterproof construction helps the tracker withstand rain and outdoor adventures.
- ACTIVITY MONITORING & TERRITORY HISTORY: Monitor daily activity, set personalised exercise goals and review 24-hour location history to understand your cat’s favourite routes, territories and hangout spots.
- REQUIRES A SUBSCRIPTION: Flexible subscription plans cover the integrated multi-network SIM card and mobile data required for tracking. Monthly and longer-term plans are available through Pawfit App.
Limitations to weigh before buying
- Coverage is not universal. Live updates depend on a working connection. GPS can determine a position, but the tracker still needs a communications path to report it. Buildings, dense structures, underground spaces and weak cellular areas can also limit location performance; Life360 does not publish a pinpoint-accuracy guarantee.
- The subscription is part of the product. A household that does not already use Life360 should compare the full ongoing cost with a dedicated pet tracker, not just the device price. The reviewed Life360 materials do not fully specify what hardware functions or historical data remain after membership cancellation, so do not assume live tracking continues.
- Reserve Mode trades performance for battery. The six-month claim does not describe normal GPS use, and Life360 says accuracy may decline in that mode.
- Fit and attachment matter. The tracker cannot locate a pet if it is removed or the collar is lost. Check that the device does not interfere with a breakaway collar, especially for cats, and that the weight is comfortable.
- Alerts need setup and a working connection. Configure Places carefully and test arrival, departure and escape notifications after setup rather than assuming defaults suit your home.
For any tracker, retain the basics: a properly fitted collar, visible ID with current contact information and a registered microchip. A GPS device is an additional safety layer, not a replacement for identification.
Life360 Pet GPS vs. Tractive
Tractive’s DOG 6 and DOG 6 XL are more pet-focused alternatives. Tractive describes features including GPS/LTE location tracking, activity and sleep monitoring, heart- and respiratory-rate features, and scratch and bark monitoring. These are manufacturer-described monitoring features, not veterinary diagnoses. Its product page lists the DOG 6 for dogs of at least 4 kg and the DOG 6 XL for dogs of at least 20 kg, with advertised battery estimates of up to two weeks and six weeks respectively. It also describes coverage in more than 175 countries where supported cellular networks are available. Check regional availability and local subscription pricing; pricing shown on a localized page may not be the U.S. price.
| Consideration | Life360 Pet GPS | Tractive DOG 6 / DOG 6 XL |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | Households already using Life360 that want pets on the family map | Owners prioritizing pet-specific tracking and monitoring features |
| Service model | Pet GPS requires Gold or Platinum membership | Tracker purchase plus a separate subscription |
| Family ecosystem | People, pets and compatible devices share the Life360 app | Dedicated pet-tracking ecosystem |
| Monitoring focus | Location, geofences, alerts, light and audible finding aid | Location plus manufacturer-described activity, sleep and other monitoring features |
| Battery claims | Up to 14 days in average use; up to six months only in Reserve Mode | Up to two weeks for DOG 6; up to six weeks for DOG 6 XL |
| Size guidance | 33.7 g with attachment; consider carefully for small pets | DOG 6 guidance starts at 4 kg; DOG 6 XL at 20 kg |
Tractive’s product page showed a $79 DOG 6 price in the reviewed listing, but subscription prices should be checked on the appropriate local checkout page. The choice is less about one tracker being universally better and more about priorities: Life360’s shared family map versus a pet-specialized system with more monitoring features. Neither cellular tracker can promise reliable updates where its network connection is unavailable.
Who should consider Life360 Pet GPS?
It is most compelling for an existing Life360 household that wants pets visible in the same app as family members, especially if several pets can share one membership under current terms. The safety light, audible ring, geofences and community alert network add practical layers, though none guarantees recovery.
It is a weaker fit for someone seeking a no-subscription tracker, a very light device for a small cat, dependable tracking in areas with poor LTE coverage, or extensive health and activity monitoring. Before ordering, check coverage where the pet spends time, the mounted weight and collar fit, the full first-year cost, device fees and the membership renewal terms. A Bluetooth tag can be a low-cost aid for short-range or indoor locating, but it is not a substitute for cellular GPS when a pet may roam beyond nearby devices.
