When a tagged pet uses the bed, the system is designed to identify the animal, record its weight and the measurement time, receive activity data from a collar or tag, and send the information to a cloud service and mobile app.
That could make it useful for spotting long-term changes in weight or routine. However, the available product material does not establish clinical accuracy, disease detection, validated alerts, or veterinary regulatory clearance. Availability is also unclear: Petrics’s homepage says the smart bed is “Coming Soon,” while a product page lists a similarly described PetMetrics PB-200 for $399 and says it is in stock.
What is the Petrics smart bed?
The Petrics concept combines five parts:
- a resting bed;
- an integrated pet scale;
- a Bluetooth collar or tag that identifies the pet and can provide activity data;
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity; and
- a mobile app and cloud-analysis service.
The current product page identifies the listed device as the PetMetrics PB-200 Smart Pet Scale with Premium Bed. Older documentation describes a bed-and-scale combination called the PS-150B, made from a PS-150 smart scale and premium bed. Those model numbers should not be treated as interchangeable without confirmation from the manufacturer.
Petrics describes the system as a way to collect information about weight, activity, rest, and longer-term trends. In practical terms, it is intended to make routine monitoring easier when a pet regularly uses one designated bed.

What does it measure?
| Information | How it is obtained | How confidently it should be described |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Measured by the scale built into the bed | Directly supported by the product specifications |
| Date and time | Recorded with the weight measurement | Supported by the product description |
| Activity | Transferred from the pet’s collar or tag | Supported, though the exact current accessory should be confirmed |
| Rest or sleep characteristics | Historically described as collar- or system-derived data | Use cautiously; current PB-200 material emphasizes weight and activity |
| Trends and warnings | Generated from collected data and owner-entered information | Company-described interpretation, not clinical diagnosis |
Petrics’s app is also described as storing information such as breed, age, lifestyle, diet, medications, vaccinations, weight, activity, and existing health conditions. That makes the app partly a health record and data-log system, rather than a device that independently measures every health variable.
The company’s 2018 launch announcement made broader claims, including caloric-burn estimates, nutrition and diet recommendations, alerts, and heating and cooling. Those are historical launch claims and should not automatically be assumed to be features of the currently listed PB-200.
How does the bed identify the right pet?
The older technical sheet says the scale identifies a pet through a Petrics PC-100 Bluetooth collar when the collar is within approximately 0.5 metres, or 18 inches. The newer product page refers instead to a Smart Tag and gives the same approximate detection distance.
That identification system is particularly important in a multi-pet household. Before buying, ask:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Does every pet need its own collar or tag?
- Is the tag included with the bed?
- Can the system identify two pets on the bed at once?
- What happens if a pet’s tag battery is depleted or out of range?
- Does the pet need to remain still for a valid reading?
- Can the app correct a reading assigned to the wrong animal?
Petrics says its cloud AI can adjust for extra objects such as toys. That is a manufacturer claim, not independent accuracy evidence. A blanket, wet bedding, toy, or second animal could still make a reading difficult to interpret. If the app assigns a measurement to the wrong pet, the resulting weight trend may be actively misleading.

Does it monitor sleep?
Historical Petrics material says the system can collect or transfer activity and sleep characteristics. The current PB-200 product page places greater emphasis on weight and activity.
The safest description is therefore that Petrics has historically described sleep or rest tracking, but current buyers should confirm whether that feature is supported by the present hardware and app version.
Is it medical-grade health monitoring?
No evidence in the available product material establishes the Petrics bed as a medical-grade monitor. The reviewed sources do not show that it measures blood pressure, oxygen saturation, body temperature, heart rhythm, glucose, disease biomarkers, or a complete set of vital signs.
There is also no published clinical-validation study, independent comparison with veterinary scales, sensitivity or specificity data for disease detection, or validated alert-performance data in the supplied material. The product is not shown to have FDA clearance or equivalent veterinary-device authorization.
A weight or activity change can be useful context, but it is nonspecific. Weight may vary because of hydration, feeding time, posture, bowel or bladder contents, scale placement, or measurement error. Reduced activity may reflect illness, pain, heat, age, anxiety, or an ordinary change in routine.

In other words, the system may help with:
- Data logging: recording weight and activity-related information.
- Trend detection: showing changes over time.
- Health interpretation: suggesting that a change may deserve attention, according to Petrics’s claims.
- Diagnosis: determining what disease a pet has—which the device is not established to do.
Sudden weight loss, lethargy, breathing difficulty, repeated vomiting, collapse, or other worrying symptoms require veterinary advice regardless of what the app reports.

Is the Petrics smart bed available?
The evidence is contradictory:
- Petrics AI’s homepage says “Petrics Smart Bed – Coming Soon.”
- The PB-200 product page displays a $399 price and says “In Stock.”
- The original January 2018 launch announcement said the product would be available that year, with historical pricing of roughly $100 to $300 depending on size.
- The older Petrics.com domain now presents the brand as HypePets, creating uncertainty about business and product continuity.
- The Android app listing was updated on December 2, 2024, but its description focuses on the smart collar and scale and does not by itself confirm active PB-200 support.
These pages do not provide enough evidence to say that the current PB-200 is unquestionably the same product as the historically announced Petrics Smart Bed, or that it is broadly shipping.
What to confirm before ordering
- Exact model: Is the product the PB-200, the older PS-150B, or a renamed version?
- Included identifier: Does the package include the Smart Tag or PC-100 collar?
- App compatibility: Does the current Android or iOS app support this specific bed?
- Cloud requirements: Is an account, internet connection, or subscription mandatory?
- Data access: Can you export readings, and how long are they retained?
- Privacy and security: What data is collected, and what happens if the cloud service is discontinued?
- Multi-pet support: Can each pet have a separate profile and identifier?
- Shipping and returns: Is the product actually fulfilled in your country, and what is the return policy?
- Warranty and accessories: Are replacement tags, collars, batteries, and support available?
- Size and behavior: Is the bed appropriate for your pet, and will the animal use it consistently?
The Google Play disclosure says the app may collect location, personal information, and two other data categories. It also says the developer declares that data is not shared with third parties and that data is not encrypted. These are developer-provided disclosures, not an independent security audit.
Who might benefit from it?
The bed is most potentially useful for an owner whose pet:

- 【Real-time response capability】This sleep monitoring board has real-time response, no timing delay, and no false triggering.
- 【Assisted Breathing Test】The smart sleep monitoring pad is used to assist in testing breathing for better results and longer service life.
- 【Non-sensitive】The smart sleep monitoring pad uses non-contact vital signs collection and is not sensitive to detection in or outside the bed.
- 【Lightweight and rollable】This smart sleep monitoring pad is thin, lightweight, rollable and easy to carry. Practical and safe to use.
- 【Wide range of use scenarios】The smart sleep monitoring pad is easy to install and reliable, and is suitable for hospitals, bedrooms, offices, etc.
- uses the same bed regularly;
- can tolerate a collar or tag;
- needs routine weight tracking;
- lives in a home where readings can be attributed reliably; and
- will be monitored for trends rather than judged by a single reading.
It could be especially convenient for owners managing weight, ageing, or a chronic condition alongside regular veterinary care. The data may give a veterinarian additional context, but it should not replace weigh-ins, examinations, bloodwork, imaging, or prescribed monitoring.

Consider a simpler or more established option if your pet avoids beds, sleeps in several locations, refuses a wearable, shares the bed with other animals, or frequently carries toys and blankets onto it.
It is also a poor fit if you want validated medical alerts, continuous vital-sign monitoring, guaranteed current support, or a device that can diagnose illness. A conventional pet scale may be the better choice if periodic weight measurement is your only requirement.
How it compares with other categories
A bed-based scale measures weight when the pet uses the bed. A collar-based tracker can provide more information about movement and, depending on the product, other physiological or behavioural signals. A GPS collar is designed primarily for location and outdoor activity. A smart feeder or camera can provide eating and behaviour context.
For readers seeking different priorities, the relevant categories include:
Best Value
- STATUS: Heart rate, respiration rate, body movement or in bed or out of bed. The smart sleep monitoring mat uses non signature acquisition, and non sensitive in bed or out of bed detection.
- RESPIRATORY RATE VOLUME RANGE: 8 to 25 times per minute, accuracy ±2 times. Intelligent sleep monitoring mat is used to assist in testing breathing for better results and life.
- RESPONSE: Our smart sleep monitoring pad is with response in , no time delay and no false triggers.
- SCOPE OF APPLICATION: The smart sleep monitoring mat is easy to install, and , and suitable for hospitals, bedrooms, offices, etc.
- EASY TO USE: This smart sleep monitoring mat is thin, light in weight, rolle and easy to carry. Practical and to use.
- PetPace for a collar-based health-monitoring approach;
- Tractive for GPS and activity tracking; and
- Felcana for home-based activity and behaviour monitoring.
These are category comparisons, not a claim that any particular alternative is suitable for every pet or condition.
Verdict
The Petrics smart bed is an interesting connected-scale concept. Its strongest defensible use is automated, repeated weight tracking combined with activity data from a tagged pet. That may help an owner notice trends earlier than occasional manual weighing.
But “monitors your pet’s health” should not be read as “provides medical monitoring.” The available evidence does not establish clinical accuracy, disease detection, validated alerts, or replacement of veterinary care. Conflicting availability messages and unclear continuity between Petrics, PetMetrics, HypePets, the PB-200, and older Petrics hardware add a separate purchasing risk.
Buy only after confirming fulfilment, the exact model, included tag or collar, current app support, cloud fees, warranty, returns, and privacy terms.
