Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Rover announced on January 28, 2026, that it had acquired Meowtel, a U.S. marketplace for in-home cat care. Meowtel is expected to continue as an independent brand within Rover Group, with co-founders Sonya Petcavich as CEO and Bruno Leveque as CTO. The companies did not disclose the purchase price or other financial terms.
What Rover acquired
Meowtel, founded in 2015, connects cat owners with sitters who care for cats in their homes. Rover described the acquisition as an acceleration of its investment in cat-centric care, complementing Rover’s broader pet-care marketplace.
Rover CEO Brent Turner said, “We understand that cats have unique care needs,” referring to cats’ preference for familiar surroundings and routines. Meowtel CEO and co-founder Sonya Petcavich said the company was focused on “connecting pet parents across the United States with loving cat sitters.”
Meowtel will keep its own brand and leadership
The announcement says Meowtel will operate as an independent brand within Rover Group rather than being presented as a completed merger or immediate rebrand. Petcavich will remain CEO and Leveque will remain CTO. The announcement does not provide a detailed integration plan or specify whether customers, sitters, app features or booking policies will change.

What the acquisition means for cat owners and sitters
For cat owners
The transaction puts Meowtel’s cat-specific service inside Rover Group’s portfolio, but the public announcement does not promise new booking options, pricing, coverage or service standards. Owners should continue to check the terms and availability shown for their location when making a booking.
For cat sitters
Meowtel’s announced independent-brand status means the acquisition alone does not establish a change to provider enrollment, payouts, schedules or platform rules. Any such changes would require a separate company announcement or updated provider documentation.
