Videos posted online in July 2025 reportedly showed a groomer at Classy Critters Pet Resort & Spa in Mooresville, North Carolina, striking and aggressively handling dogs. Authorities said Kirsten Taylor, 28, was arrested and charged with four felony counts of animal abuse; the sources reviewed do not establish a conviction or later court outcome. Separately, the facility’s owner was assessed a $1,900 civil penalty for reported facility violations, which were not related to the video allegations.
What happened at Classy Critters?
The videos were reportedly recorded by a coworker at the Mooresville facility and posted online by Summer Hilton on July 18, 2025. Hilton said her sister worked at the business and recorded the footage. Yahoo News/People reported Hilton’s account.
Local reporting citing the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Taylor was arrested on July 23, 2025, and charged with four felony counts of animal abuse. WBTV reported that investigators reviewed video and other evidence and said at least four dogs had been treated aggressively. These are reported allegations and charges, not a conviction. WBTV reported on the investigation.
The facility’s owner said Taylor no longer worked there. In a statement quoted by Spectrum News, the owner called the behavior unacceptable and said the employee no longer worked at Classy Critters. She also said she had “zero tolerance” for animal abuse. Spectrum News reported the statement and arrest.

What did the videos appear to show?
Reports described footage that appeared to show a groomer striking and forcefully handling dogs. Descriptions of the footage should remain attributed to reporting or authorities: the sources reviewed do not establish a court finding about what happened, and they do not establish whether any dog suffered lasting injuries.
WBTV reported that investigators identified at least four dogs in the evidence. That number refers to dogs, not necessarily the number of videos. Taylor’s arrest and charges are procedural facts; they do not establish guilt.

Who recorded and posted the footage?
Reporting distinguishes between the coworker who reportedly recorded the videos and Summer Hilton, who posted them online. Hilton said her sister worked at the facility and recorded the footage. The sources reviewed do not establish that Hilton herself recorded it.

In August 2025, North Carolina agriculture regulators assessed owner Pamela Byars a $1,900 civil penalty for 14 reported violations following an inspection. WBTV described issues involving records, facility maintenance, and a dog escape. It explicitly reported that the listed violations were not related to the July video allegations. This regulatory action is separate from Taylor’s criminal case. The penalty does not establish that Byars participated in, or knew about, the conduct alleged in the videos.
