Day 1 of the 149th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was Monday, February 10, 2025. After daytime breed and variety judging at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, four groups competed that evening at Madison Square Garden; Bourbon the Whippet, Comet the Shih Tzu, Neal the Bichon Frise, and Mercedes the German Shepherd won their groups and advanced to Best in Show the following night.
How Day 1 of Westminster 2025 unfolded
Day 1 combined daytime breed and variety judging at Javits with evening group judging at Madison Square Garden. Dogs progressed from breed competition into their respective groups, and each group winner earned a place in the Best in Show competition on Tuesday night.
