The clip sparked an emotional interpretation from Forest’s owner, Ashton McGrady, but the available reporting cannot establish what the dolphins understood or why they approached.
What happened in the dolphin-and-dog video?
In a July 11, 2025 report, The Daily Galaxy said Ashton McGrady brought Forest, her golden retriever service dog, to an aquarium. In the clip, dolphins appear to approach the tank and show interest in the dog. The report identifies the venue as Georgia Aquarium through the social post’s caption; the official aquarium material reviewed for this story does not independently confirm this particular visit or video.
McGrady’s caption, as reproduced by the report, reads: “I think the dolphins knew he was special 🥺🩵 @Georgia Aquarium #servicedog #dogsoftiktok #animalfriends #heartwarming”. That is her interpretation of the moment, not evidence that the dolphins recognized Forest’s service role or understood his purpose. The footage may look like an unusually warm encounter, but what the animals perceived is unknown.
Who are Forest and Ashton McGrady?
The report identifies the dog as Forest, a golden retriever service dog, and Ashton McGrady as his owner and handler. It does not provide further independently confirmed details about Forest’s training or the circumstances of the aquarium visit.

The Daily Galaxy reported more than 2.5 million views in its July 11, 2025 article. That is a dated figure from a secondary report, not a current count or an independently verified platform metric; no primary platform analytics or official aquarium record for this specific video was established.
Does Georgia Aquarium allow service dogs?
Georgia Aquarium’s official FAQ says guide dogs for people who are blind, service dogs for people with disabilities, and working dogs in training are permitted. Pets and emotional support animals are not. This policy is consistent with the reported service-dog context, but it does not verify that Forest visited the aquarium.

Can visitors meet the dolphins?
Georgia Aquarium lists a separate, staff-led Dolphin Encounter. The aquarium describes it as a 15-minute program with approximately eight minutes of interaction guided by animal-care professionals, and says personal filming is not permitted during encounters. It is a distinct paid program, not a way to recreate the viral video. Check the aquarium’s live page for current availability and details.
