Keep your distance, move children and pets away, and call the Marikina City Veterinary Office (CVO) at 475-4719 or Marikina City Rescue at 161 for current instructions. Tell them the animal’s location, condition and behavior, and whether anyone has been bitten. Marikina’s published information does not confirm guaranteed stray-animal pickup or a general public surrender process, so call before trying to transport the animal to the pound.
What to do first
- Make the area safer. Keep children and pets away. Do not chase, corner or block the animal’s escape route. Watch from a safe distance, especially if it looks frightened, injured or aggressive.
- Call for local instructions. Contact the CVO at 475-4719 or City Rescue at 161. Explain the precise location, whether the animal is injured or in immediate danger, how it is behaving, and whether anyone has been bitten or scratched. Ask whether a city team can respond and what you should do next. These are listed city contacts, not a guarantee of dispatch or response time. Marikina City Hall contact page
- Do not attempt a risky capture. If the animal is in traffic or otherwise poses an immediate danger, stay out of harm’s way and ask City Rescue or appropriate local responders for help. If it is calm and approachable, only consider containing it if you can do so without forcing contact or putting anyone at risk.
Can you bring the animal to the city pound?
Call the CVO or City Rescue before taking a stray dog or cat anywhere. The city’s published materials reviewed here do not establish a current general intake or surrender procedure for finders, and they do not promise that a team will collect an animal. Do not assume the pound will accept a public surrender.
Marikina’s 2022 Citizens’ Charter describes processes for reclaiming a claimed animal and adopting an animal at the pound; it is not confirmation of a general stray drop-off service. Its listed fees and steps may have changed, so ask the CVO to confirm the current process before visiting.
If someone is bitten or scratched
Wash the wound immediately with soap and water for at least 15 minutes, then seek medical attention. Do not delay care while trying to catch or identify the animal, or waiting to see whether it becomes ill. The World Health Organization advises prompt washing and medical assessment after a bite or scratch from a potentially rabid animal. WHO rabies fact sheet

- PREPARED HERO PEACE OF MIND - Pets are pets. They get into things, especially when you're not looking. Be ready when your pet accidentally eats something toxic. Keep PawMergency in your kitchen, car, or travel bag—instant protection for those critical moments at home, the beach, or anywhere life takes you.
- GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT FOR YOUR PET - One tube covers dogs & cats up to 30 lbs. Dog weighs 31-60 lbs? Get 2 tubes. Dog weighs 61-90 lbs? Get 3 tubes. Dog weighs 91-120 lbs? Get 4 tubes. Dog weighs more than 121 lbs? Get 5 tubes. We recommend giving at least 1cc/1lb of body weight. Less than the required amount won't fully absorb the toxin — make sure you have enough based on your pet's weight.
- BROAD SPECTRUM ABSORPTION - PawMergency absorbs most common household items such as chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, and many more. It works by binding toxins in your pet's digestive tract before they can be absorbed, allowing them to be eliminated through normal bowel movements. A must have for your pet's first aid kit!
- SUPERIOR MANUFACTURING - PawMergency is proudly made in the USA by a National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) preferred supplier. It’s produced following strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and tested by third-party labs to ensure quality, purity, and potency.
- 2 YEAR SHELF LIFE - After each use, simply put the cap back on the end of the tube and store for up to 2 years in a cool, dry place.
Exposure severity affects treatment. WHO classifies minor scratches or abrasions without bleeding as exposures requiring wound washing and immediate vaccination. Transdermal bites or scratches, or saliva contact with mucosa or broken skin, are severe exposures requiring wound washing and immediate vaccination, with rabies immunoglobulin or monoclonal antibodies when indicated. A clinician should assess the exposure and determine treatment.

What the pound’s published claim and adoption processes cover
The 2022 Citizens’ Charter describes two pound processes, but neither establishes a general public surrender route for a finder:
- Claiming a missing pet: The charter describes searching for the animal at the Animal Pound, securing a claimed stub, obtaining an order of payment through CVO/Treasury, paying, then claiming the dog or cat. Registration and anti-rabies vaccination records are among the listed requirements.
- Adoption: The charter describes searching at the Animal Pound, securing an adoption stub, paying through the stated process, and claiming the animal.
The charter lists PHP 500 for registered dog or cat claims and PHP 500 in its adoption section. It also lists additional fees or fines for specified non-registration or non-vaccination cases. These are figures in the 2022 charter, not verified current charges; confirm present fees and procedures with the CVO before relying on them. Marikina Citizen’s Charter 2022
