Steel Magnolia, known as Maggie, was featured as an adoptable cat by ExploreClarion on July 7, 2025. Clarion PAWS described her as an adult female tabby and domestic short-hair mix surrendered to the rescue. That profile is historical: her current availability has not been confirmed, so contact the shelter before applying specifically for Maggie.
Who was Steel Magnolia?
ExploreClarion’s July 7, 2025 feature identified Steel Magnolia, also called Maggie, as an adult female tabby and domestic short-hair mix surrendered to Clarion PAWS. The article attributed her description as sweet, gentle, smart, quiet, and independent to the rescue center. It also said she could do well in a home with other cats. These are the rescue-reported details in that dated profile, not a guarantee of how she will behave in a particular household.
The 2025 feature reported that Maggie’s vaccinations were up to date, that she was spayed, and that she was house-trained at the time. Those statements are not a current veterinary record; ask Clarion PAWS for updated health information if she is still available.
Is Maggie still available for adoption?
Her current status is unverified. The July 2025 profile does not establish whether she remains at Clarion PAWS, has been adopted, or is otherwise unavailable. Check the shelter’s current adoptable cats page and contact Clarion PAWS directly before submitting an application for Maggie.

How to apply to Clarion PAWS
- Complete and return the adoption application. Clarion PAWS says this is the first step in its process. The application is available through the shelter’s Adoption Process page.
- Wait for the shelter’s response. After an application is approved, the Adoption Manager calls to notify the applicant and arrange an appointment. Clarion PAWS says the response usually takes two or three days, depending on how quickly references can be reached.
- Meet the cat at the shelter. PAWS recommends meeting cats in person to assess their personality and whether there is a connection. Ask staff about current health information and how the cat may fit your household.
The Adoption Process page lists Clarion PAWS at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, PA 16254, and gives the phone number 814-229-1231. It lists adult-cat adoption fees as $70 and a 20% discount for multiple adoptions. These are details shown on the shelter page as accessed October 4, 2026; confirm current fees and requirements with PAWS, and do not assume those terms apply to Maggie.
Questions to ask before adopting
The 2025 profile mentions possible compatibility with other cats, but does not address dogs, children, or other household situations. When speaking with the shelter or meeting a cat, ask about the specific circumstances that matter in your home:
