Nathan began to cry, and Buddy soon licked him. The moment was described as an apology—but that is a human interpretation of Buddy’s behavior, not proof of what he was thinking.
What happened in the clip?
In an account published by iHeartDogs on November 5, 2025, Buddy sat beside Nathan after coming back from a rainy walk. His wet nose touched Nathan’s cheek, startling the baby into tears. The article also says Buddy was sitting on Nathan’s foot.
Buddy then licked Nathan. The article says Nathan’s crying faded and he reached toward Buddy’s paw. Nathan’s mother filmed the scene, and the clip appeared on the Life with Malamutes YouTube channel.
Why viewers called it an apology
Nathan’s mother’s caption described Buddy as eager to say sorry and said he looked guilty and concerned after making Nathan cry. Those words convey how the moment appeared to her; the clip’s account does not establish Buddy’s internal feelings. “Sorry” is a charming way to describe the interaction, not a verified explanation of a dog’s state of mind.
