A dog’s repeated welcome-home ritual may be a learned greeting: if a particular behavior reliably earns attention or play, she may repeat it. But the title alone does not identify what this dog does or why, so it would be misleading to assign her a specific action or motivation.
Why might a dog repeat the same greeting?
Dogs can develop familiar routines around a person’s return. Veterinary behavior guidance offers toy-carrying as one example: a dog who brings a toy may be greeting an excited person, inviting play, or repeating a behavior that has previously led to attention or a game. The available description does not establish whether this dog carries a toy—or what her routine involves. If you have seen the original clip, stick to what it visibly shows; the repeated behavior itself does not reveal a dog’s private thoughts.
Does an excited greeting mean separation anxiety?
No. A lively reunion by itself cannot show how a dog behaves during the time her person is away. To assess possible separation anxiety, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior recommends observing the dog while home alone and describes video as the most effective and accurate way to do so. Its guidance on identifying separation anxiety focuses on what happens during the absence, not just the greeting afterward.

What if the greeting includes jumping?
If jumping is unsafe or unwanted, a dog can be taught a different greeting and rewarded for doing it. VCA describes reinforcing a greeting with all four paws on the floor. Choose a consistent response and reward the behavior you want; there is no need to treat a safe, welcome ritual as a problem. What if a dog urinates during a greeting?
Excitement urination and submissive urination are different behaviors. The University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine notes that high-energy eye, verbal, or physical contact can trigger excitement urination. A brief anecdote cannot establish the cause; ask a veterinarian about persistent or sudden house-soiling.
