Peggy, a cat available for adoption through Ponce de Leon Cat Rescue, disappeared from a Cobb County Petco, according to a report by WSB-TV on October 6, 2026. The rescue says surveillance video showed a man placing her in a carrier and leaving the store. Anyone with information about Peggy’s whereabouts is asked to contact the rescue or Cobb County police.
What the rescue says happened
Peggy was staying at the Petco as part of Ponce de Leon Cat Rescue’s adoption program. WSB-TV reported that the rescue described surveillance footage showing a man putting Peggy into a carrier and leaving the store. The rescue also said a second person took pet supplies.
These accounts are attributed to the rescue; the report does not independently establish who the people in the video are or whether anyone has been found responsible. WSB-TV’s report does not give the time of the incident or the store’s precise address.
Police report and request for information
WSB-TV reported that a police report had been filed with the Cobb County Police Department and that the rescue said an investigator had been assigned. The report does not provide a case number or investigator’s name.

Anyone with information about Peggy’s whereabouts should contact Ponce de Leon Cat Rescue or Cobb County police. The report does not include direct contact details for either.

The rescue told WSB-TV it has rescued and rehomed hundreds of abandoned and neglected cats over the years and had never faced a situation like Peggy’s disappearance. The report gives no exact count or time range.
