A 2017 helmet-camera clip from Malinô Brdo bike park in Slovakia shows a brown bear running toward the lead mountain biker, moving alongside him, and then veering off the trail. The footage makes the encounter look like a chase, but it does not reveal what the bear intended.
What happens in the Slovakia bear video?
The clip shows two cyclists on a trail at Bike Park Malinô Brdo near Ružomberok. A bear appears and runs toward or alongside the rider in front before leaving the trail and heading into the woods. The riders regroup afterward.
ViralHog credits the footage to Dusan Vinzik and dates the encounter to May 7, 2017, the bike park’s season-opening day. Contemporary Slovak coverage also identifies the video as helmet-camera footage and says Vinžík was riding behind his friend. SITA’s contemporary report, published by WebNoviny.sk, describes the bear as chasing the cyclists; UPI’s headline calls it a charge. Those labels capture the alarming appearance of the footage, not proof of an attack.
Was the bear chasing or attacking the cyclists?
The video supports a narrower description: the bear ran toward the lead rider, traveled alongside him briefly, and then turned off the trail. It does not establish whether the bear was pursuing the cyclists, reacting defensively, or trying to get away. A clip can show an animal’s movement, but it cannot by itself establish the animal’s motivation.

TN Live relayed an explanation from bike-park employee Dušan: the bear had been grazing nearby, the cyclists startled it, and it ran away from them before turning back into the woods. That is an attributed account, not an independently verified wildlife assessment. TN Live’s report should therefore be read as a local explanation of the encounter rather than a confirmed account of the bear’s intent.
Where and when did the encounter happen?
The encounter took place on May 7, 2017, at Malinô Brdo bike park near Ružomberok, in Slovakia’s Liptov region. The clip listing says it was filmed on the park’s season-opening day and credits Dusan Vinzik. Contemporary reports place two riders on the trail; the bear’s brief run toward the front rider is the central moment captured by the helmet camera.
