Mr. Magoo was reportedly passed over by potential adopters because of his appearance before Lisa, associated with Frankie Lola & Friends, stepped in to rescue him. A December 6, 2023, iHeartDogs story said he was in poor health and pain and had gone to a foster home to recover. That account does not establish whether he is available for adoption today.
What happened to Mr. Magoo?
In its December 6, 2023, report, iHeartDogs described Mr. Magoo as a dog repeatedly overlooked by people considering adoption because he did not look the way they expected. The story says Lisa, associated with Frankie Lola & Friends, rescued him from the shelter.
The article described Mr. Magoo as being in poor health and pain when he was rescued, then said he went to a foster home to recover. It did not identify a diagnosis, treatment plan, breed, or age. Those details should not be inferred from the story.
What did Lisa say about him?
The iHeartDogs article attributes this line to Lisa in a linked video: “How did you remain such a kind soul after having been so neglected?” The story identifies her as being with Frankie Lola & Friends but does not give a formal role. The linked video could not be independently reviewed.

Is Mr. Magoo still available for adoption?
His current availability is not established by the 2023 article. It linked to a Petfinder listing at the time, but that listing could not be independently reviewed, and a historical adoption link does not confirm that he still needs a home. Anyone hoping to adopt him should check with Frankie Lola & Friends or locate a current listing before making plans.

Mr. Magoo’s account illustrates how appearance was described as a barrier for this individual dog. It does not provide evidence about how often appearance affects shelter adoptions generally, nor does it establish his present health, placement, or care needs.
