Purrform’s adult 70 g pouches and 450 g tubs are sold by the brand as complete raw cat food. Two exceptions need checking before you buy: whole-prey products, and 250 g bone-free tubs, which the brand’s own FAQ does not present as complete foods. Purrform’s health and nutrition claims are the manufacturer’s own; the independent material available on raw feeding in general does not confirm the specific benefits it lists, and it raises real hygiene and nutritional concerns that any buyer should weigh.
Which Purrform products are labelled complete
The brand’s adult complete category describes its range as suitable from nine months old and made with meat, bone and offal. Check the label of the exact product you buy, because the category page is the brand’s description rather than a product-by-product guarantee.

Range, proteins and formats
The adult range is organised by protein and pack size. At the time of review, examples on the category page included chicken and rabbit recipes. Pouches suit single-meal portioning and thaw faster, while tubs are cheaper to handle per portion for multi-cat households that can plan a freezer shelf for them. Prices shown on the brand’s site change, so compare them against the exact pack size and date.

Nutrient additives and what is verified
Purrform’s FAQ states that its complete products contain taurine plus added vitamins and minerals, which the company describes as nutritional additives. Those are the brand’s statements. The material reviewed did not include an independent nutrient assay of the adult recipes, so nobody outside the company has confirmed that a given pouch or tub meets a nutritional standard. If you need that assurance, ask the brand for its nutritional analysis in writing and compare it with what your veterinarian advises for your cat.
Purrform Complete Supplement is not an add-on for complete foods
Purrform Complete Supplement is a separate product designed for pure meat preparations. The manufacturer says not to mix it into foods that are already complete. Do not add it to the complete pouches or tubs on the assumption that more is better.
Health claims and the independent evidence
Purrform’s marketing links raw feeding to benefits for coat, energy, longevity, dental health, diabetes, allergies and weight. These are brand claims. None of the independent sources reviewed establishes them as outcomes of Purrform’s food. The two main veterinary positions are summarised below so you can judge them for yourself.

WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee (2020)
The committee’s statement on raw meat-based diets identifies contamination and nutritional-adequacy concerns, along with bone-related risks when bone is included. It concludes: “There is currently no properly documented evidence of health benefits for RMBD, but there are well documented risks. As such, the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee recommends that RMBD not be fed to dogs and cats.” This is a general position on raw meat-based diets, not a test of Purrform.
Raw Feeding Veterinary Society (January 2026)
The society accepts contamination, potential nutritional inadequacy and bone injury as genuine issues. It argues that the level of risk varies by product and by household. It also notes that long-duration controlled trials with hard clinical endpoints are absent across pet nutrition. The society was established to support clinicians and owners who choose raw and fresh feeding, so its position reflects that perspective. Neither organisation’s statement shows that Purrform’s food delivers the benefits on its packaging.
UK Food Standards Agency survey (2026)
The Food Standards Agency reported on 380 raw dog and cat food products bought between March 2023 and February 2024 and tested by UKHSA, and it stressed good hygiene when handling raw pet food. The 380 figure is the size of the sample, not a count or percentage of contaminated products. The survey covers the category as a whole and does not show that any Purrform product tested positive.

Cats.com publishes a scored review of Purrform that weighs ingredient quality, variety, price, customer experience and recall history. Those ratings are the reviewer’s judgment. The page is not a nutrient assay or a controlled feeding study.

- Defrost in the refrigerator, not on the worktop.
- Use thawed food within three to four days.
- Clean bowls, utensils and surfaces after every meal preparation.
- Do not heat or microwave products containing ground bone, as the brand warns.
Plan freezer and fridge space before ordering, particularly for 450 g tubs and multi-cat households. A household with children, pregnant people or immunocompromised members should weigh the hygiene side of raw feeding more carefully before choosing it.

Switching your cat over
Purrform advises a gradual transition and gives a staged mixing guide for moving from wet or dry food. The brand also says individual cats vary and that a switch can take longer than the staged example. Treat the schedule as a starting plan: move on only when stools are normal and your cat is eating the new food readily. Stop and contact your veterinarian if your cat refuses meals or shows vomiting or diarrhoea.
Portions and the feeding calculator
The brand provides general feeding guidance and a calculator. Those are starting points. Age, health, body condition, activity level and your cat’s response all change how much your cat needs. Do not treat the calculator output as individual veterinary advice. Cats with a medical condition, or with concerns about their diet, should be assessed by a veterinarian before any change.

Who Purrform suits
Purrform is a reasonable option for an owner who wants a labelled complete raw adult diet, has freezer space, can handle raw food hygienically, and accepts that the health benefits on the packaging are the brand’s claims rather than established outcomes. It is a poor fit for a household that cannot manage the handling routine, for a kitten or senior cat without veterinary input, or for an owner expecting independent proof of the brand’s nutrition or health statements. This review includes no feeding trial of its own.
Wherever raw feeding is part of your plan, ask your veterinarian to review the specific product and your cat’s health before you switch.
