How large is GTA 6’s map, and where is it set?
GTA VI’s fictional state of Leonida is reported to be roughly twice the size of GTA V’s map. That is a relative comparison, not a measured area: the reports do not provide a square-mile or square-kilometer figure. Coverage names six primary regions:

The stated comparison does not establish that every region is equally large or how the game’s playable area compares in density, interiors, or detail.
What animals are reported in GTA 6?
The reported tally is more than 170 animal species, including over 60 kinds of birds and more than 30 land mammals. Fish and reptiles are also included in the descriptions. Named examples include flamingos, pelicans, and alligators.

Rockstar vice president of dynamic art Michael Kane described the intended range as wildlife across Leonida’s urban and rural areas, inland and ocean waters, and wetlands. TechRadar reproduces his explanation that the animal art and population teams aimed for researched, visually accurate animals, with movement and animation to bring them to life. The numbers are pre-release counts attributed to Rockstar, not an independently verified census. They do not establish specific animal interactions, hunting, or crafting mechanics.
How does the reported dynamic weather system work?
Rockstar vice president of art for lighting and rendering Owen Shepherd said the weather system had been re-engineered to make conditions more localized and persistent. He described dynamic cloudscapes that move across the map, with weather ranging from clear winter skies to towering summer and autumn storm clouds. Reports also mention wind, rain, lightning, puddles, rainbows, tropical storms, and hurricanes.

That description suggests weather is designed to feel connected to the surrounding world rather than simply changing as a uniform backdrop. However, the available reporting does not say how frequently tropical storms or hurricanes occur, or whether they alter missions. VICE noted that those points had not been disclosed in its September 29 report. Storm damage or mission effects should not be assumed.
What has been reported about NPCs and animation?
TechRadar reports more than 600,000 combined animations and extensive variation in NPC height, skin and body types, facial features, hair, tattoos, and clothing. Kane called the character work “a huge artist-driven effort” intended to make characters “authentic and representative in service to both the story requirements and so that the entire Leonida map feels visually diverse and believable.”

The figure is a reported combined animation count; it does not specify how the animations are distributed among characters or situations. The descriptions point to efforts to make Leonida’s people visually varied, but they are not a hands-on assessment of the finished game.
What is the reported wanted system and “Heat” mechanic?
TechRadar’s summary describes a six-star Wanted system and a new “Heat” system in which police can gather information about a protagonist’s appearance and vehicle. The report says changing appearance or vehicles, or splitting up the protagonists, can help evade police. These are reported feature descriptions, not tested gameplay; detailed rules, thresholds, and how the systems behave in play have not been established in the cited coverage.

What is confirmed about release and platforms?
Take-Two Interactive’s June 24, 2026 announcement lists a November 19, 2026 release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It announced a $79.99 standard edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition. The announcement says the boxed physical version contains a download code, so it should not be described as including a disc. These are announced details and may change before launch.
