Molly’s owners publicly thanked people around Carine for their help. James Burtenshaw said, “Thank you, thank you to the whole of the community around the Carine area because you’ve been amazing.” Natalie Burtenshaw said the family’s gratitude was “all about the kindness of the community and how, without them, we really couldn’t have done it.” Both statements were quoted in PerthNow’s reunion story.
During the search, the family reportedly asked people not to call out to Molly because they feared it might frighten her. That was guidance for this particular search, not universal lost-dog advice; a suitable response can depend on the dog and circumstances.
