To find a pet-friendly Airbnb, set your destination, dates and guest count, then use Airbnb’s pet filter. Before booking, read the listing’s House rules and message the host with details about your animal: a “pets allowed” label does not confirm that every species, size or number of pets is accepted. Check the full checkout price for any pet fee, too.
How to find pet-friendly Airbnbs
- Enter your destination, travel dates and guest count in Airbnb’s search.
- Apply the pet filter to narrow the results.
- Open each promising listing and read its House rules. Treat the search result as a starting point, not confirmation that your particular animal is welcome.
Airbnb advises guests to check the listing’s pet policy and contact the host even when pets are allowed. Restrictions can vary by property and stay.
What to confirm with the host
Send a message before booking that identifies your animal and gives any relevant details, such as its size or how many pets will travel. Ask about the rules that matter for your trip:
- Whether that type, size and number of animals are accepted.
- Whether pets may be on furniture or in particular rooms.
- Whether a pet can be left alone in the accommodation, and under what conditions.
- Rules for shared spaces and outdoor areas, including leash expectations.
- Where and how to dispose of pet waste.
- Whether the host has resident pets that could affect someone with allergies, phobias or sensitivities.
Airbnb’s Animal Safety policy says guests must follow the host’s pet rules. Keep important clarifications in Airbnb’s messaging channel so the agreed details are easy to refer back to.

Check pet fees and the total price

Service animals are covered by a separate policy
Airbnb’s Accessibility Policy treats service animals separately from pets. Under the platform’s policy, service animals generally may accompany a guest at a home that does not allow pets, and hosts generally may not charge pet or animal-hair cleaning fees for them; policy exceptions apply. Emotional support animals are addressed differently, and local law may affect what a host must accommodate. Consult Airbnb’s current Accessibility Policy for your circumstances rather than assuming the platform policy states the law everywhere.
