Brent Turner, previously Rover’s president and chief operating officer, succeeded him. Easterly did not leave Rover: he became Executive Chair of the Board.
Who replaced Aaron Easterly as Rover CEO?
Rover named Brent Turner, then its President and COO, as CEO. The company announced the succession on June 12, 2025, and said the appointment would take effect July 1, 2025. Rover’s announcement identifies Turner as a member of its leadership team since 2014; GeekWire reported that Easterly recruited him that year.
Did Easterly leave Rover?
No. When Turner became CEO, Easterly moved to Executive Chair of Rover’s Board. The change was a transfer of the chief executive role, not a departure from the company. In Rover’s announcement, Easterly said, “Leading this company over the past 14 years has been one of the proudest achievements of my life.” Turner said, “I am honored to lead Rover and its amazing team in this next phase.” Both statements appeared in the company release.
Was the transition caused by Rover’s Blackstone deal?
GeekWire reported that the succession plan predated Rover’s 2024 deal with Blackstone, so the available reporting does not support describing the transaction as the trigger for the leadership change. GeekWire also reported that Rover recorded $1.1 billion in gross booking value in 2024.

Rover’s scale at the time of the announcement
Rover described its marketplace as connecting pet owners with providers for boarding, in-home sitting, daycare, dog walking, and drop-in visits, with operations in the United States, Canada, and European countries. Its June 2025 announcement reported that annual bookings grew from 115,000 in 2014 to 7.2 million in 2025, and that 6.2 million unique pet-owning households had booked through the service to date. These are company-reported figures, not independent estimates. Turner also said in the release that Rover had “over a billion dollars in annual sales” and operated in 16 countries; those figures were company statements at the time of the announcement.
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The succession announcement establishes the July 1, 2025 effective date and the roles Turner and Easterly took in that transition. It is a historical account, not confirmation of Rover’s current executive roster.
