Shameless Pets’ three crunchy cat-treat recipes reviewed by Cats.com start with animal protein and include upcycled produce, but Cats.com considers their carbohydrate content high because of ingredients such as sweet potato, brown rice and tapioca. They may suit cats that enjoy crunchy treats, but their claimed digestive, skin or coat support should be understood as product positioning—not proven treatment or disease prevention.
Which Shameless Pets cat treats were reviewed?
Cats.com reviewed three recipes: Catnip N Chill, Yam Good Salmon, and More Lobster, Cheese. Each has an animal-based protein ingredient at the start of its ingredient list, according to the review. The recipes also share plant ingredients that Cats.com sees as a nutritional tradeoff.
| Recipe | Protein and notable ingredients | Stated purpose | Cats.com assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catnip N Chill | Chicken; sweet potato, brown rice, tapioca, brewers dried yeast, catnip, inulin and a Bacillus coagulans fermentation product. | Digestive support, as described by the brand. | Review-reported 55.43% carbohydrate on a dry-matter basis; Cats.com calls the level very high. |
| Yam Good Salmon | Salmon first; sweet potato, brown rice, tapioca, brewers dried yeast, flaxseed meal and fish oil. | Skin and coat support, as positioned by the brand and review. | Review-reported 60.87% carbohydrate on a dry-matter basis; Cats.com flags the plant ingredients and carbohydrate content. |
| More Lobster, Cheese | Tuna first, with lobster later; sweet potato, brown rice, tapioca, brewers dried yeast, flaxseed meal, cheese, kelp and fish oil. | Skin and coat support, as positioned by the brand and review. | Review-reported 56.52% carbohydrate on a dry-matter basis; Cats.com flags the plant ingredients and carbohydrate content. |
The carbohydrate figures are Cats.com calculations from guaranteed analysis, not independent laboratory results. The reviewer cautions that values in its nutrient charts may not represent typical nutrient values. Cats.com also lists each recipe at 1.5 kcal per treat; treat calorie intake should be counted alongside the cat’s regular food.
What is the tradeoff in the ingredient and nutrition profile?
The recipes lead with chicken, salmon or tuna, rather than a plant ingredient. They also contain produce and other plant-derived ingredients, including sweet potato, brown rice and tapioca. Cats.com interprets the resulting carbohydrate content as high across all three recipes. That is the reviewer’s assessment based on guaranteed-analysis calculations, not a lab analysis establishing typical nutrient composition.

| Criterion | Cats.com score |
|---|---|
| Species appropriateness | 6/10 |
| Ingredient quality | 8/10 |
| Product variety | 6/10 |
| Price | 7/10 |
| Customer experience | 8/10 |
| Recall history | 9/10 |
The recall-history score reflects the reviewer’s assessment; it is not an official determination of a product’s recall record. Cats.com reports that its cats showed eager interest in the treats, while customer comments included cats refusing a flavor. The reviewer also describes one vomiting episode during its test. Those are individual anecdotes; they do not establish how most cats will respond or that the treat caused the episode.
Are these treats a good choice for your cat?
They may be worth considering if your cat likes crunchy treats, has no relevant ingredient sensitivity, and you are comfortable with the ingredient tradeoff described by Cats.com. Choose by the main protein and the full ingredient list, not just the recipe name or functional claim. Catnip N Chill is the chicken option with a digestive-support claim; the salmon and tuna-led recipes are positioned for skin and coat support.
