It is a promising lineup, but “going to rule” is still a prediction: no soundtrack sales, streaming, chart or audience-response figures have been reported in the sources available as of October 3, 2026.
What song did Hilary Duff make for The Cat in the Hat?
“CATastrophe,” performed by Hilary Duff, was released by Atlantic Records on October 2, 2026. Duff co-wrote the song with Matthew Koma, Madison Love and Brian Phillips. Its title nods to the Cat, while Duff described its subject as the disorienting feeling of having your world changed without being asked. The official music video was directed by Dano Cerny. Rolling Stone Australia’s report includes Duff’s comments; Film Music Reporter lists the release and co-writers and says the single is available on major digital music services.
When does the full soundtrack come out?
The Cat in the Hat (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is scheduled for October 30, 2026, from WaterTower Music. The album announcement identifies Lorne Balfe as the film’s score composer and says the soundtrack includes “The Cat in the Hat Theme Song.” The announcement does not confirm a CD or vinyl edition, so a physical format should not be assumed. Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and WaterTower Music’s announcement provides the album details.
Who sings the new Cat in the Hat theme song?
The theme is distinct from Duff’s “CATastrophe.” Tim Minchin wrote it, and it is performed by FITZ and Minchin, featuring Bill Hader. The studio and label say Balfe composed the score and produced the theme song with Minchin. Directors Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni said they wanted a soundtrack that reflected the Cat’s fun personality. That gives the announced music two different entry points: Duff’s standalone original song and a character-focused theme within the film’s broader score and soundtrack.

When does the film open?
The official Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and WaterTower Music announcement schedules the film’s North American theatrical and IMAX release for November 6, 2026, with international release beginning November 4. The film is based on Dr. Seuss’s book, The Cat in the Hat. Readers interested in the story behind the adaptation can look to the original book; it is source material, not a soundtrack product.
