A puppy’s look of disapproval can make bath time look like a courtroom drama—but a still image or short clip can’t tell us what the puppy is feeling. The identity and context of the video behind this headline could not be verified, so there’s no basis to name the puppy, describe what happened off camera, or say it was frightened or harmed.
If your own puppy resists baths, make the bathroom and tub familiar in small steps, reward calm behavior, and keep the bath gentle. Here’s how to read that dramatic expression cautiously and help a bath-averse puppy feel more comfortable.
What does a puppy’s “look of disapproval” mean?
It may look like a stern protest, but an expression in a photo or brief video does not establish whether a puppy is afraid, uncomfortable, annoyed, or simply caught at an unflattering moment. Without verified context, the face is best treated as a funny impression—not proof of what the puppy felt or what happened during the bath.
For the same reason, the video’s identity and circumstances cannot be stated as fact here. The useful question for owners is what to do when their own puppy seems uneasy about bathing.

How can I help a puppy that seems to hate bath time?
Make the bathroom and tub ordinary, rewarding places before expecting your puppy to enjoy a bath. The American Kennel Club recommends building familiarity gradually and pairing calm participation with praise or treats.
- Start with the bathroom. Let your puppy explore the room without beginning a bath. Reward relaxed behavior.
- Introduce the empty tub. Invite the puppy to stand in it while it is dry. Keep the experience brief and positive; praise or offer treats for calm participation.
- Add water separately. For a puppy already worried about bathing, let it get used to the sound of running water without immediately putting it in the tub for a bath.
- Move at the puppy’s pace. Build up only while the puppy can stay relaxed. If it becomes distressed, make the next step easier rather than forcing the experience.

How do you give a puppy a gentle bath?
- Use lukewarm water. It should feel comfortable, not hot. A soft stream is gentler than forceful spraying.
- Handle your puppy gently. Move calmly, and keep shampoo away from the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
- Choose a dog-formulated product. The right choice can depend on the puppy’s age, coat, and skin. Ask your veterinarian what is suitable, especially if your puppy is very young or has sensitive skin or another skin concern.
- Rinse thoroughly. Carefully remove shampoo rather than leaving residue on the coat.
- Dry by blotting. Use an absorbent towel to blot the coat instead of rubbing. A rubber bath mat can help provide steadier footing, but it is optional.
There is no single bath schedule that fits every puppy: coat, age, skin health, and veterinary advice matter. Ask your veterinarian if you are unsure how often your puppy needs a bath or which product to use.
