The organization’s December 3, 2025, retrospective describes ten outcomes and thanks its supporters: “Your support truly means the world to us — and to the animals we serve.”
Rescue, recovery, and disaster response
1. Animals rescued from suspected cruelty
The ASPCA reports that it rescued more than 150 dogs from suspected dogfighting in South Carolina during 2025, assisted in cases in North Carolina, and helped nearly 70 animals living in poor conditions in Northern Ohio. In a later South Carolina operation, it says it rescued more than 50 dogs and puppies. Some animals remained in ASPCA care for treatment, while others found homes. The dogfighting cases and other cruelty investigations were allegations, not findings of guilt.
2. Help for animals during California wildfires
During California wildfires in 2025, the ASPCA says it and local and national partners assisted nearly 4,000 animals through search and rescue, feeding animals in place, and sheltering. Its disaster response team also handled more than 520 calls about lost or found pets, emergency veterinary care, pet supplies, and related needs. These figures are the ASPCA’s account of its 2025 response.
3. Belo’s path from emergency care to a home
Belo, an eight-year-old dog, was found in a shopping bag in January 2025, critically ill and in pain, according to the ASPCA. After months of care, he recovered and found a home. The organization’s account does not specify his treatment, so the important outcome is the one it reports: recovery followed by adoption.

4. Food companies and farmers adopting higher-welfare practices
The ASPCA’s 2025 article points to U.S. egg brands NestFresh and Kipster as investing in approaches intended to avoid killing male chicks. It said their “better hatched eggs” were available in stores when the article appeared; that is a publication-date claim, not confirmation of current availability. The article also highlights farmers raising higher-welfare chicken breeds and argues that consumers can influence food practices through what they buy.
5. Care and homes for Morgan horses in Montana
During an animal-cruelty investigation in Madison County, Montana, the ASPCA says it assisted with nearly 90 Morgan horses seized under court order. Its team provided care and veterinary services for nearly three months. After legal ownership was granted in April 2025, more than 60 horses found homes at an adoption event; the ASPCA reported that all had been adopted by the time its article was published. The investigation concerned alleged cruelty.

6. Shelter animals transported to places with room for them
The ASPCA says its relocation program, launched in 2014, had transported over 300,000 shelter animals—more than 211,000 dogs and nearly 89,000 cats—on over 11,000 ground and air trips by the end of 2025. Those are cumulative program figures reported by the ASPCA, not a count limited to that year.
One animal in the milestone account was Maisie Belle. After healing from an injury that required amputation, she traveled from Humane Educational Society in Chattanooga to Brandywine Valley SPCA. At the time of the article, she was in foster care with a caregiver who planned to adopt her.

7. A new animal support center in Mississippi
The ASPCA and Oktibbeha County Humane Society (OCHS) announced the opening of an animal support center in Mississippi. The facility provides sheltering and veterinary services, including a spay/neuter clinic and a kennel hub for animals awaiting relocation. The ASPCA said the clinic was expected to raise OCHS’s annual spay/neuter capacity from 2,900 to 5,800 surgeries. That is a projected annual capacity, not a reported number of completed surgeries.
Adoption and policy work
8. Nine horses adopted at Equine Affaire
For the fifth consecutive year, the ASPCA attended the four-day Equine Affaire with three partner organizations. It reports that nine horses found homes through the event.

9. Measures aimed at protecting pets and improving animal sales
The ASPCA says California’s Legislature passed bills intended to close loopholes it says puppy-sale websites and brokers had exploited. It also reports that Nevada, Washington, D.C., Colorado, and Bellingham, Washington, passed measures addressing restrictive housing policies to help people and pets stay together.
At the time of the ASPCA article’s December 3, 2025, publication, a related New York bill had passed the Legislature, and advocates were urging the governor to sign it. The article does not establish whether that bill later became law.

10. Policymakers engaged on farm-animal welfare
The ASPCA says it brought policymakers from both major parties to higher-welfare farms and held a congressional briefing with farmers to discuss policy change. These activities are advocacy and education; the article does not claim that they resulted in a particular federal policy being enacted.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What these ten outcomes show
The ASPCA’s retrospective spans both direct services and efforts intended to change the systems animals depend on. Rescue, veterinary care, disaster response, transport, and adoption address immediate needs. New shelter and clinic capacity can support local services, while legislation, food-company practices, and policymaker engagement focus on longer-term conditions. The ten stories are the organization’s account of work it says supporters helped make possible during 2025.
