A shark sighting in Princess Royal Harbour, Albany, prompted a warning for swimmers in a PerthNow report published on 28 December 2015. The report also described a separate encounter: a diver at Geordie Bay on Rottnest Island was approached by a great white estimated at 4.5 metres. The incidents happened at different locations, and the 2015 article does not establish current shark activity or beach conditions.

Where did the 4.5-metre great white encounter happen?

The diver encounter was at Geordie Bay on Rottnest Island, not in Princess Royal Harbour. PerthNow reported that a diver was approached by a great white estimated at 4.5 metres at about 2:30pm on Sunday, around 500 metres offshore. The source describes the shark as approaching the diver; it does not establish that it circled them.
