Cats.com’s list of eight Abyssinian cat accounts on Instagram, published December 26, 2025 by Kellie B. Gormly, is a useful set of profiles to start from, but it is not a verified ranking of the most-followed Abyssinian accounts. Its follower counts were the figures displayed when the article was written, and the author says other worthy profiles may have been left out. At least one count has already changed substantially: a Social Blade page for @barcelona_the_aby_cat, crawled shortly before October 7, 2026, showed 112,735 followers against the article’s 72.6K.
The eight accounts in the December 2025 list
The table below follows the numbering in the Cats.com article. The headline counts are the figures shown in the article on December 26, 2025. They are not live counts, and the article’s own body text gives slightly different numbers for three accounts (see the next section).
| No. | Account | Cats featured | Headline count (Dec. 26, 2025) | What the article says about the account | Activity noted in the article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | @barcelona_the_aby_cat | Barcelona, Malta, Pipa, and Murcia | 72.6K | Connected to an Abyssinian breeder in Northern Virginia; features resident cats and kittens | Not stated in the article |
| 2 | @cheeseandolive | Cheese and Olive | 60.7K | Historic modeling account; Olive appeared on Modern Cat and Catster covers and has retired from modeling | No new posts in four years, as of the article |
| 3 | @tyyniandtiuku_abyssinians | Tyyni, Tiuku, Lusi, and Lili | 8K | Cats based in Finland; archive of more than 800 photos and reels | Not stated in the article |
| 4 | @tsunami_abyssinian_cat | Tsunami | 4.2K | Based in Vilnius, Lithuania | No posts for a few years, as of the article |
| 5 | @gingersnaptheaby | Gingersnap (sibling Azrael is mentioned) | 3K | Gingersnap is described as ruddy-colored | Not stated in the article |
| 6 | @willowtheabyssinian | Willow and Romeo (also features Bambi, a silver Bengal) | 2.5K | Memorial account for Willow and Romeo | Not stated in the article |
| 7 | @enzo_the_abyssinian | Enzo and Abigail | 1.3K | Enzo is described as ruddy and Abigail as blue; placed in Chicago | Not stated in the article |
| 8 | @abyssinianfamily | Leon, Kiki, Rui, Shane, Kirara, and Baron | 1K | Multi-cat family; archive of more than 800 photos and reels; the article says the location is unclear and only speculates about Asia | Not stated in the article |
The headline counts decline down the list, but that order reflects the December 2025 figures only. It is not a current ranking, and it should not be read as one.
How the counts have aged and where the article disagrees with itself
Follower totals change constantly, so a December 2025 figure is a historical snapshot. Three kinds of evidence matter here.

The Barcelona count has moved
Social Blade, a third-party statistics site, displayed 112,735 followers for @barcelona_the_aby_cat in a crawl shortly before October 7, 2026, alongside 505 accounts followed and 855 media items. This is an aggregator’s reading, not a count taken directly from Instagram, and it applies to one account only. It shows that the Barcelona figure changed; it does not establish the current follower counts or order of the other seven accounts.
The article gives different numbers in different places
- Barcelona: 72.6K in the headline, 71.5K in the body text.
- Cheese and Olive: 60.7K in the headline, 60.8K in the body text.
- Tyyni, Tiuku, Lusi, and Lili: 8K in the headline, more than 8.1K in the body text.
When you quote a figure from this list, use the headline number, state that it dates from December 26, 2025, and name Cats.com as the source. For Barcelona, the Social Blade figure should be cited separately, with its October 2026 crawl date.
Choosing an account by what it shows
Because the counts are dated, the most useful way to pick among these accounts is by the kind of content each one offers. The Cats.com article describes five distinct types.
Breeder and kitten content
@barcelona_the_aby_cat is linked, according to the article, to an Abyssinian breeder in Northern Virginia and features resident cats and kittens. It is the only account in the list the article ties to a breeding setting.

Rank #3
Historic modeling
@cheeseandolive is the list’s modeling-history account. The article reports that Olive appeared on Modern Cat and Catster covers and has retired from modeling, and that the account had not posted new material in four years at the time of writing. Treat it as an archive rather than an active feed.
Multi-cat household archives
@tyyniandtiuku_abyssinians and @abyssinianfamily both feature several cats and archives of more than 800 photos and reels each, according to the article. The first places its cats in Finland; the second’s location is unclear in the article.
Memorial archives
@willowtheabyssinian is described as a memorial account for Willow and Romeo. It also features Bambi, a silver Bengal, according to the article. Expect a record of past cats rather than new content.
Individual cats
@gingersnaptheaby (Gingersnap, with sibling Azrael mentioned) and @enzo_the_abyssinian (Enzo and Abigail, placed in Chicago) centre on a small number of named cats. The article’s colour descriptions, ruddy for Gingersnap and Enzo and blue for Abigail, are the only physical details it gives for these cats.

Use this sequence for any account on the list, or any account you add to it.
- Open the handle on Instagram and record the followers figure along with the date and time you looked at it.
- Find the most recent post and note its date. The Cats.com article reports multi-year gaps for at least two accounts, so a large count does not mean the feed is current.
- Confirm the cats named in the article still appear on the profile. Memorial and retired-model accounts keep their follower counts after the activity has stopped.
- If you use a third-party tracker such as Social Blade, label it as a third-party figure and give its crawl date. Its numbers can differ from what Instagram displays.
- Compare your figure with the December 26, 2025 headline count and say whether the account has grown, shrunk, or stayed flat.
Following this sequence for each account will tell you whether a claim about popularity holds at the time you publish it. Without it, the most accurate description of this list is a set of accounts featured by Cats.com in December 2025.
