A driver’s video shows a strikingly white-looking moose crossing a secluded road in central Alberta around dusk on April 29, 2024, with a darker moose nearby. The witnesses described the encounter as “a spiritual moment,” but the footage does not establish that the animal was albino. “Rare white moose” is the most accurate description based on the public record.
What happened in Alberta?
Theresa Tanner filmed the moose while traveling with her wife in central Alberta. The white-looking animal crossed a secluded road, and a darker moose was nearby. Storyful’s footage record, published April 30, 2024, identifies the location only as central Alberta.
The original post reportedly called the animal an “albino moose.” That label reflects the post’s wording, not a confirmed biological diagnosis. The exact road and coordinates were not made public, so the location should remain broad.
Why did the witnesses call it “a spiritual moment”?
“A spiritual moment” was the witnesses’ description of their experience. Storyful reports that Tanner’s wife said she is Cree and that a white or “spirit” moose represented good luck. This is reported personal and cultural context, not a scientific finding or a belief that should be generalized to all Cree people or Indigenous communities.

Leucism or another inherited pigmentation variation is possible, but unconfirmed. The responsible description is “white-looking moose” or “rare white moose”; use “albino” only as an attributed label from the post or headline.
