Looking for a Star Wars costume for your dog? Options range from simple hoodies and vests to character outfits with headpieces. Choose by your dog’s comfort and measured fit first, then by the character you want to bring to life. The picks below are examples—not a guarantee that a particular size or item is currently in stock.
Star Wars dog costume options at a glance
| Character or style | Example construction | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Ewok | Parade Pets describes an Amazon-linked hoodie with ears and a scarf, as well as a separate look with arms and a spear. Oriental Trading lists a two-piece Ewok pet costume, product #14242019. | A hoodie is a simpler approach than a multi-piece look. Check that any ears, scarf, arms, or accessories stay secure without restricting movement or becoming tempting to chew. |
| Darth Vader | Fun.com’s licensed listing describes a bodysuit and structured helmet, with a hook-and-loop closure and chin strap. It displayed sizes S through XL when accessed. | More coverage and headwear can create a stronger character look, but make sure the helmet does not obstruct vision or breathing and that the straps fit comfortably. |
| Chewbacca | Parade Pets describes both a fuzzy hoodie-style option and a simpler lightweight vest. | A vest may be a less-covered alternative to a hoodie. Compare how each sits on your dog and whether it allows an unrestricted walk. |
| Grogu | The roundup describes a light cross-body piece and a hoodie. Oriental Trading lists a two-piece Grogu pet costume, product #14242020. | Chewy’s Fetch For Pets Grogu listing was marked out of stock in the accessed view. Check current stock and sizing before choosing this character. |
| Other characters | Examples in the Parade Pets roundup or Oriental Trading category include Leia, Porg, Yoda, Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Jedi, Stormtrooper, and Lando Calrissian. | These are examples of the range, not confirmation that a specific costume is currently available in your region or size. |
Product descriptions and examples are from Parade Pets’ October 15, 2025 Star Wars costume roundup, Oriental Trading’s pet-costume category, and Fun.com’s Darth Vader listing. Retail selection, size availability, and prices can change.
How to choose a costume your dog can wear comfortably
Start with the simplest style that gets the look
A vest or light cross-body piece generally covers less than a hoodie or a bodysuit with a headpiece. More elaborate designs can look more like a specific character, but more fabric, straps, and accessories also mean more things to check for fit and interference. Pick the least restrictive style that suits your dog and the occasion.
Measure your dog and use that listing’s chart
Measure your dog rather than choosing by breed name or borrowing a size from another brand. Use the exact product’s size chart and follow its measuring instructions. Fun.com’s Vader listing provides neck circumference and back-length measurements; the other retailer listings cited above did not provide a comparable common chart in the category view accessed. Do not assume another costume’s sizes or measurements transfer.

- Check where closures sit and whether they rub or press on the neck, chest, or legs.
- Look at the full design, including headwear and dangling pieces, to see whether your dog can walk, turn, see, breathe, and bark normally.
- If your dog wears a harness or leash, inspect the costume to see whether it interferes with either; product-specific compatibility is not established by the listings.
- Check that detachable parts cannot be easily chewed off or swallowed.
Check the costume on your dog before the event
Put the costume on briefly in a familiar, calm setting and watch your dog’s response. Cher Drury’s October 2024 Pawscripts article, “Halloween Safety Tips for Dogs,” advises: “Make sure the costume doesn’t limit their movement, sight, or ability to breathe or bark.” It also cautions against leaving a costumed pet unsupervised and notes that a festive bandana is an alternative. The article attributes the advice that a pet should wear a costume only if they enjoy it to the ASPCA; this is the article’s attribution, not an independently verified ASPCA quotation.
If your dog seems uncomfortable, struggles to move, or tries to remove or chew the outfit, take it off. A costume listing’s general comfort claims are not a safety certification or proof that the item suits every dog.

Where to look, and how to check availability
Parade Pets’ roundup points to examples across the character range, while Oriental Trading’s category view lists Ewok, Grogu, and Lando Calrissian pet costumes. Individual listings can differ in construction, sizing information, and stock. For example, the Chewy Fetch For Pets Grogu listing showed out of stock when accessed; Parade Pets also cautions that some licensed costumes may no longer be available.
- Open the specific retailer listing for the character and style you want.
- Confirm the item is in stock and that your dog’s measured size is offered.
- Review the product photos and description for coverage, closures, headpieces, and accessories.
- Check shipping availability for your location and the retailer’s return terms before ordering.
Fun.com’s Darth Vader listing displayed sizes S through XL, with size-specific listed prices ranging from $49.99 to $59.99 when accessed. Those are listing details at that time, not a promise of today’s price, stock, or availability elsewhere.

If you cannot find a suitable licensed costume
Parade Pets suggests a do-it-yourself route for Leia, Ewok, or Darth Vader looks using cotton and felt. Treat that as a creative option rather than a tested pattern: any homemade outfit still needs to fit without restricting movement, vision, breathing, or barking, and should not include pieces your dog can chew off. A simple themed bandana is another lower-coverage way to mark the occasion.
