Kittyo was presented in 2014 as a smartphone-controlled way to watch and interact with a cat from away from home. Its campaign and contemporaneous coverage described one device combining a camera, laser, speaker and treat dispenser. The available documentation establishes how the product was designed to work then, but does not establish that Kittyo or its app is available or supported today.
What was Kittyo?
Kittyo was a remote pet-interaction device built around a smartphone app. Its 2014 Kickstarter campaign used the line “Play With Your Cat. Even When You’re Not Home.” The concept was to let an owner check in by camera, play with the cat using a remotely controlled laser, speak through the device and dispense a treat. The campaign page and ABC News’ contemporaneous report describe those features as part of the product presented at the time.
That is a description of the historical product, not evidence of a currently sold or working service. The sources available do not establish present-day Kittyo sales, app operation or support.
How was Kittyo supposed to work?
ABC News described the device as connecting over Wi-Fi and being operated with an Android- or iOS-enabled smartphone after the owner installed the app and set a password. The manual describes a camera feed in the app, laser control by swiping across the screen, and treat dispensing by tapping a control. A built-in speaker was also part of the documented design.

The Kittyo manual says remote interaction sessions over a cellular network were limited to 10 minutes at a time. It does not establish that the same limit applied to Wi-Fi sessions or every software version.
What happened to the Kittyo Kickstarter campaign?
Kittyo’s Kickstarter campaign ran from April 21 to May 23, 2014. Kickstarter reports that it raised $271,154 from 2,425 backers against a $30,000 goal. Those are campaign figures; they do not, by themselves, verify how many units were produced or delivered, or whether the product can still be bought or used.

Can you still buy or use Kittyo?
Current Kittyo availability, app functionality and support are not established by the campaign, ABC News report or manual cited here. The historical documentation explains the intended experience, but it is not a current purchase listing or confirmation that the app still connects to a device. Treat Kittyo as a discontinued-or-unverified product unless a seller or service provider can independently confirm current stock, compatibility and support.

A separate Petcube Play Kickstarter campaign described an app-controlled camera and laser for remote pet interaction. That makes it a historical comparison in the same general category, not proof of Petcube Play’s present retail availability or compatibility with Kittyo. When evaluating any current remote pet device, check whether it offers live video, two-way audio, manual or automated play, treat dispensing, and ongoing app and service support; Kittyo’s campaign-era documentation cannot answer those current-product questions for another device.
