In a video reported by DogTime, a puppy named Mabel paddles toward Chewy, a Newfoundland, and he changes direction to come closer. Mabel is wearing a life jacket. The dogs’ owner, as quoted by DogTime, captions the moment: “That’s his baby out there.”
What happens in the video?
DogTime describes Mabel swimming toward Chewy while he is turned away. Chewy then changes direction and moves closer to her. That is the reported sequence; the available coverage does not identify the life jacket’s brand or model.
Why viewers call it a check-in
The turn reads as a small moment of attention: Mabel heads toward Chewy, and he comes back toward her. DogTime frames the movement as a check-in, while the owner’s caption supplies the affectionate interpretation. A short clip cannot establish what either dog intended, so the “check-in” is a way of describing how the moment appears, not a confirmed account of Chewy’s thoughts.
Who are Chewy and Mabel?
DogTime identifies Chewy as a Newfoundland and Mabel as his puppy. The story does not provide the owner’s name or further details about the dogs.
