In a clip credited by DogTime to Instagram account @wilsonsworking, a hand repeatedly passes over an office Golden Retriever’s head without touching him. DogTime identifies the dog as Wilson, a two-year-old office dog, and reports that he eventually moves away. The joke is the promise of a pet that never arrives; the clearest thing the clip shows, as described, is Wilson leaving.
What happens in the office petting game?
DogTime’s October 6, 2026, account describes a person moving a hand over Wilson’s head as if to pet him, but stopping short of contact. After several passes, Wilson moves away. DogTime calls him surprised and disappointed, but those are interpretations of his expression and behavior, not emotions that can be confirmed from the description alone. DogTime’s report credits the clip to @wilsonsworking on Instagram.
Who is Wilson?
DogTime identifies Wilson as a two-year-old Golden Retriever who is an office dog. That name, age, and role come from DogTime’s reporting; they have not been independently confirmed here. The clip’s original Instagram caption is not established by the available account, so the safest description is the one DogTime provides.
How to pet a dog respectfully
A better approach is to let the dog choose whether to come closer. Golden Bond Retriever Rescue recommends making a hand available without reaching toward the dog. If the dog eagerly approaches, offer a few gentle strokes, then pause and see whether the dog seeks more contact. Turning the head or body away, or walking off, is a cue to give the dog space. This is general handling guidance, not a diagnosis of Wilson’s behavior in the video. Golden Bond Retriever Rescue’s guidance explains the approach.

Victoria Road Primary’s school-dog policy also advises waiting before touching, watching for signs of discomfort, and avoiding the face and top of the head. That is one school’s policy, not a universal rule, but it underscores a useful point: a dog’s willingness matters more than a person’s expectation of a pet. Read the school’s policy.
