What happened when Moose met the porch screen?
Gabrielle LaFrank’s AOL article, published October 4, 2026 at 11:45 p.m. UTC, says Moose charged toward the outdoors and nearly went through the screened-in porch. AOL notes that the story originally appeared on PetHelpful that day.
The story reports that Moose was not hurt. LaFrank describes Golden Retrievers as fairly energetic and says they were bred to work alongside people retrieving small game and waterfowl. The article mentions long walks and play as ways to give that energy an outlet. It offers no study or statistic to quantify the breed’s energy, and those general comments do not establish why Moose ran at the screen.

A practical note for screened-in homes
If a dog is new to a screened porch, calmly introduce the space and supervise early visits so the dog can learn where the barrier is. A pet-resistant screen mesh or protector is one possible home-safety category to investigate, but the story does not establish that the screen was damaged or that a protector would have prevented this near collision.
