A guilty owner checked the cameras expecting to find Ace, a Blue Staffordshire Terrier in Melbourne, sitting home alone. Instead, the dog was running around the backyard and spinning with a yellow bone toy in his mouth, according to a report published by DogTime on October 6, 2026.
What Ace was doing while his family was away
DogTime says the Instagram reel, credited to @_acethebluestaffy, shows Ace playing by himself outside. The report describes him dashing about and repeatedly spinning, yellow toy clamped in his mouth.
The reel’s on-screen text reads, “You feel horrible for leaving Ace at home by himself, so you check the cameras.” Its account caption, as reproduced by DogTime, is: “Checked on my ‘lonely’ dog… classic Ace.”
A funny moment, not a rule about leaving dogs alone
Ace’s energetic play makes the clip an amusing surprise for his owner, but “having fun” is an interpretation of what the footage appears to show. The report does not say how long Ace was alone, give the circumstances around the recording, or establish whether this is typical behavior for him.

That makes the reel a snapshot of one dog, not evidence that dogs generally enjoy being left alone. A dog’s needs and reactions are individual; this short account does not establish whether Ace was comfortable throughout the time his family was away.

What the report does—and doesn’t—identify
- Ace is described as a Blue Staffordshire Terrier in Melbourne.
- The toy is described only as a yellow bone; no brand or model is named.
- The owner checks cameras, but the report does not identify the camera.
- DogTime published its story on October 6, 2026. AOL carried a substantially similar version, so that repetition is not independent confirmation of the reel.
