IHeartDogs reported that Muneca, an 18-year-old Dachshund with blindness or poor vision, was at Los Angeles County’s Baldwin Park Animal Care Center when shelter volunteer Elaine Seamans approached her. Muneca leapt into Seamans’s arms and clung to her, according to the account. A later IHeartDogs story says a photograph of that encounter helped bring attention to Muneca, who was eventually adopted by Amy Gann.
Muneca’s shelter encounter
IHeartDogs’ January 2022 story identified Muneca as an 18-year-old blind Dachshund at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in Los Angeles. It reported that volunteer Elaine Seamans approached her and that Muneca leapt into Seamans’s arms and clung to her. The article described the moment as an expression of affection; it did not establish Muneca’s thoughts in her own words.

A photograph drew attention to her situation
In a November 2023 account, IHeartDogs said photographer John Hwang captured the encounter and that the image attracted broad attention. That story described Muneca as having poor vision, rather than providing a detailed diagnosis or veterinary record. It reported that Frosted Faces Foundation arranged a veterinary examination and foster placement, and that she was otherwise in good shape for her age. Those are the article’s descriptions, not independently reviewed medical findings.

Muneca’s reported adoption
The 2023 story said many people expressed interest in Muneca and that Amy Gann was selected to adopt her. It reported that Gann drove to meet her, and that after adoption Muneca enjoyed bubble baths, beach trips, treats, and a warm bed. The story does not name a particular bed or other product.
