Cats Against the World is a 36-card, cat-themed fan expansion for Cards Against Humanity. It is not a standalone game. You need a copy of the Cards Against Humanity base game to play it, and the expansion’s cards are shuffled into the base decks. It was launched in 2016 as a fundraiser for SOXRescue, a California cat-rescue nonprofit. Whether you can still buy it today is unclear, so check the seller and shipping status before you commit any money.

What the expansion contains

The expansion adds 36 cards in two types. White cards are answers, and black cards are the prompts that players fill in. The card counts below come from the BoardGameGeek listing, which dates to 2016.

Card type Number of cards Role in play
White answer cards 27 Players submit these to complete a black card
Black question cards 9 Prompts read aloud each round
Total 36 Shuffled into the matching base-game decks

Because the cards slot into the base decks, the expansion adds no new rules. A group that already knows Cards Against Humanity can start using the cat cards in the next round.

What kind of product it is

Cats Against the World is fan-made. Catster describes it as an unofficial expansion, and BoardGameGeek files it under fan expansions for Cards Against Humanity. It is not an official Cards Against Humanity release.

#1 Best Overall
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza Card Game by Taco Cat Games, Age 7+, 2-8 Players
  • Fast-Paced Fun for All Ages: Engage in a lively game where players race to match cards with spoken words like "Taco," "Cat," "Goat," "Cheese," and "Pizza." Designed for 2–8 players aged 7 and up, each round lasts just 10–15 minutes, making it perfect for quick family card games or travel entertainment. Its simplicity and speed ensure everyone stays engaged and laughing.
  • Simple Rules, Wild Gameplay: Players take turns playing cards while chanting the game's title in order. When a spoken word matches the card played, everyone races to slap the pile and the last one to do so takes the cards! Add in surprise action cards and it becomes a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud competition that's easy to learn but hard to stop playing.
  • Card Games for Families and Social Events: Whether it's a holiday gathering, birthday party, or casual get-together, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a go-to choice. Its easy-to-learn rules and engaging gameplay make it a hit among both kids and adults. It's also a top pick for stocking stuffers and Easter baskets, offering fun without the need for screens.
  • Portable Entertainment for On-the-Go Fun: Compact and lightweight, this card game is travel-friendly, making it an excellent companion for road trips, vacations, or family outings. Its quick setup and short playtime ensure that you can enjoy a fun-filled game session anytime, anywhere.
  • Boosts Cognitive Skills and Reflexes: Beyond entertainment, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza helps develop important skills such as concentration, pattern recognition, and fine motor coordination. Players must stay alert and think quickly, making it both a fun and mentally stimulating activity for all ages.

The humor is adult. Catster describes the content as adult-themed, and the BoardGameGeek listing sets a suggested age of 17+. The listing’s own product description reads: “Cats Against the World is a parody game for horrible people… who LOVE CATS.” That wording comes from the listing itself, not from a named individual.

The charity behind the launch

The expansion was tied to SOXRescue, which Fast Company described in an August 25, 2016 article by Ben Paynter as a nonprofit supporting homeless and sick cats in California. According to that article, the pack debuted in May 2016, carried a $15.99 retail price, sold 8,000 packs (most of them in the two months before the article), and sent all profits to the charity.

The article also said one purchase could provide food, shelter, and medical treatment for one homeless cat for one week. That was a claim made at launch. It is not a verified measure of impact, and it does not show how the charity’s work looks today. The $15.99 price and the sales figures belong to 2016 and do not describe current pricing or sales. Available sources do not establish whether any donation arrangement is still in place, so do not present the purchase as a current donation.

Cards Against Humanity
  • Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people.
  • Now version 2.0! Over 150 new cards since the last version.
  • Contains 500 white cards and 100 black cards for maximum replayability.
  • Includes a booklet of sensible game rules and preposterous alternate rules.
  • America's #1 gerbil coffin.

Is it still available?

The sources disagree, and neither establishes a reliable sales channel.

  • Catster (updated August 17, 2026): says the game seems to be no longer available and suggests secondhand marketplaces as a possibility.
  • BoardGameGeek listing: says the product is still advertised and orders can be placed, but a user comment on the listing reports that the seller did not respond to purchasers.

No official listing and no verified Amazon product page for the expansion were identified. The Cards Against Humanity base game is a separate product, and it is the item readers will need in any case.

  • Game includes numbered playing cards and special action cards, Reverse, Skip, New Total, and Supersteal.
  • Learn in seconds, play for hours. Simple enough that anyone can win (or lose!), making it a great card game for mixed age and skill level groups.

Before you buy

If you find a seller, work through these checks before paying:

  1. Confirm the seller has a verifiable identity, a returns policy, and a way to contact them.
  2. Ask for a current stock confirmation in writing before you pay.
  3. Check the shipping estimate and cost, and confirm the seller ships to your country.
  4. Pay through a method that offers buyer protection where possible.
  5. If you receive no order confirmation or reply within a few days, treat the listing as unreliable and do not send further payment.

Exploding Kittens Original Edition, 2-5 Players, Ages 7+ Card Game
  • In this family card game, draw cards and try to avoid the dreaded Exploding Kitten! Use strategic action cards to skip your turn, shuffle the deck, or defuse the Kitten with laser pointers or catnip sandwiches. The last player standing wins!
  • Designed for 2-5 players, ages 7 and up, Exploding Kittens is great for kids, teens, and adults alike. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or want a casual game to break the ice, this easy-to-learn game is perfect for bringing everyone together.
  • Compact for travel, portable for on-the-go, camping, game nights, road trips or a family home evening.
  • Includes 56 cards illustrated by The Oatmeal (each featuring a hilarious cartoon with characters such as Tacocat, Rainbow-Ralphing Cat and All-Seeing Goat Wizard) and an instruction manual (that you’ll probably skim).
  • Our Story: One of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns ever, the hilarious characters, thoughtful design and gameplay simple enough for a good time but complex enough for ultimate replayability, Exploding Kittens has taken the world by storm, with millions of copies sold and a global fanbase.
  • Do you already own the base game? If not, the expansion cannot be used until you get it.
  • Can the seller show current stock and reliable shipping? If not, the purchase carries real risk.
  • Does the cat-rescue connection matter to you? The fundraising link is historical, so buy for the game, not as a current donation.
  • Will the adult humor suit your group? The 17+ listing and the adult-themed content make it a poor fit for mixed-age tables.

If the answers point toward a sure yes, the expansion is a playful add-on for a group that already plays Cards Against Humanity and enjoys cat jokes. If the seller cannot demonstrate stock, the sensible choice is to skip it.
