The HomeRunPET CS106 is worth considering if you share your home with one large cat or several cats, have floor space for a 44 lb unit that needs clear access on all sides, and want to scoop and top up litter less often. It is a poor fit for small apartments, very young or very small cats, and owners who expect no routine upkeep at all. The “world’s biggest” wording is the manufacturer’s marketing. The 106 L dome is HomeRunPET’s own specification, and no independent comparison we could find confirms that ranking.
What the CS106 offers, according to the manufacturer
Every figure below comes from HomeRunPET’s official US product page, accessed 7 October 2026. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements by an independent lab or reviewer.
| Feature | Manufacturer specification |
|---|---|
| Dome (litter area) | 106 L |
| Waste drawer | 12 L |
| Litter bed | Up to 8 L |
| Automatic refill reservoir | 4.5 L |
| Maximum cat weight | 25 lb (11.3 kg) |
| External dimensions | 27.44 × 23.62 × 28.07 in |
| Net weight | 44 lb |
| Body material | ABS |
| Operating noise | Not settled: the page lists “<34db” in its specification section, but states about 38.8 dB elsewhere and in an FAQ |
The page’s two noise figures contradict each other. Until the manufacturer states which figure reflects a defined test method, treat neither as confirmed. If noise matters in a bedroom or open-plan living space, ask the seller for the measurement method before you buy.
Who the CS106 suits, and who should look elsewhere
- Good fit: households with one large cat, or several cats whose combined waste load would otherwise mean frequent emptying, provided each cat is within the rated weight limit.
- Good fit: owners with a dedicated, hard-floored corner that can keep the radar clear of walls and furniture.
- Good fit: buyers who accept a recurring cost for bags, litter and filters in exchange for less daily handling.
- Poor fit: very small, young or kitten-sized cats, for which the app’s Kitten Protection Mode may be needed (see the safety section below).
- Poor fit: small apartments or homes where the footprint or a route through narrow doors cannot be measured and confirmed.
- Poor fit: buyers who want no waste disposal, refilling or cleaning of any kind.
Safety: manufacturer claims and reviewer observations
The manufacturer describes three protective layers: a physical anti-pinch bumper, radar at the entrance, and four weight sensors. Those are design descriptions. They are not a certification that the machine is risk-free for every cat or household.

- Room for Large Cats: The 106L dome gives larger cats space to turn, dig, and get into position. Designed for cats up to 25 lb, including larger breeds such as Maine Coons and Ragdolls.
- Mechanical Safety: A physical safety latch complements radar and weight sensing. SGS tested the mechanical latch and escape passage in a simulated protective-software failure scenario.
- Automatic Refills, Built In: The integrated 4.5L reservoir automatically adds fresh litter as needed to help maintain the litter level. Spend less time topping up the litter bed by hand, with no separate refill accessory required.
- 12L Waste Capacity with Odor Control: The enclosed 12L waste bin collects clumps between emptying, while the included deodorizing gel helps manage everyday litter box odors.
- Full Litter Changes Made Easier: Empty old litter into the separate used-litter drawer when it’s time for a fresh start. The removable dome and accessible components make it easier to reach the parts that need cleaning.
Anti-pinch bumper
Cats.com’s reviewer praised the bumper as a physical safeguard against a cat becoming trapped in the rotating mechanism. Zoolory, which also reviewed the unit, said it did not stage a safety test with a live cat and checked the bumper by hand. Neither review is a controlled safety trial.
Radar and weight sensors
The Cats.com reviewer wrote that “the radar and weight sensors appeared to work reliably and I especially appreciated the anti-pinch bumper that eliminates the risk of a cat accidentally getting stuck inside.” The same reviewer added that the radar seemed “overly sensitive at times.” The phrase “eliminates the risk” is the reviewer’s characterization, not a demonstrated guarantee, and the sensitivity note means you should expect occasional false starts or pauses.

HomeRunPET advises placing the radar at least two inches from a wall and using a hard floor so the base weight sensors detect a cat’s presence accurately. Keep carpet, rugs and cramped placement out of the plan.
Kitten Protection Mode
According to the Cats.com review, the app’s Kitten Protection Mode can disable automatic and scheduled cleaning for very small or young cats. If you have a kitten, or a cat whose size falls outside the typical adult range, confirm that this mode is active before relying on automatic cycles.

What automation removes, and what you still do
Automatic sifting and refill cut down routine scooping and topping up. They do not remove the chores below. HomeRunPET’s waste-drawer interval is a marketing estimate: up to 20 days for one cat, or seven days for three cats. Actual intervals depend on use and environment, and the seller recommends emptying more often in hot or humid conditions.
| Task | What the evidence shows |
|---|---|
| Routine scooping | Reduced by automatic sifting (manufacturer claim; iTechGuides describes the same automation). |
| Waste disposal | Still the owner’s job. Drawer interval of up to 20 days (one cat) or 7 days (three cats) is a seller estimate. |
| Litter top-up | Automatic from the 4.5 L reservoir; the owner refills the reservoir when it runs low. |
| Deep cleaning | Still required periodically, according to iTechGuides (review dated 4 October 2026). |
The seller’s interval is the best case. Plan for a shorter schedule in a warm, humid room or a multi-cat home, and treat any claim of odor-free or hands-off operation as a marketing phrase rather than a result.

- Compatible with Homerunpet CS106 Automatic Litter box
- Large Capacity: Roomy bags hold ample cat waste.
- Durable Design: Strong and easy to replace.
- Easy Cleanup: Simplifies maintenance, keeps home fresh.
Setup and connectivity
The unit needs mains power to operate. Manual control works through the touch panel without Wi-Fi, and HomeRunPET’s FAQ states: “No, the homerunPET Self-cleaning Litter Box CS106 doesn’t require Wi-Fi or an app to work!” The same page says app use requires a 2.4G Wi-Fi network, and Zoolory notes support for 2.4 GHz networks only. Do not assume 5 GHz compatibility.
- Measure the intended spot, including the height and width of the dome and the route through the nearest doors. Expect the unit to need dedicated floor space.
- Place it on a hard floor, with the radar at least two inches from any wall.
- Plug in the power adapter. The unit does not run on batteries.
- Fill the litter only to the MAX line.
- For app control, confirm your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz network and connect the unit to it. If you do not need the app, skip this step and use the touch panel.
Litter and replacement supplies
The product page lists these compatible litter types: clumping clay, tofu, cassava, cassava-tofu mix and tofu-bentonite mix. The included items are ten waste bags, ten used-litter bags, fresh gel deodorizer, large-pore and small-pore filters, the power adapter and cord, and the manual.

- Recurring supplies are the main ongoing cost after the purchase price.
- Check that any third-party bags, filters or deodorizer match the CS106 before buying, because the manufacturer’s compatibility list covers only what it names.
- Verify the bundle contents at the time of purchase, as they may change.
Price, trial and warranty terms
As displayed on HomeRunPET’s US product page on 7 October 2026, the price was $699, shown against a $899 comparison price. The page advertises the following terms; check the live page before you order, since prices and policies change.
- Home trial: 90 days.
- Return shipping: for reasons other than product quality, the customer arranges and pays for return shipping.
- Before return: customers are asked to share photos.
- Cleaning fee: a $20 fee may apply if the used product shows signs requiring cleaning.
- Warranty: 12 months.
- Flex consultation: the page describes a $15 consultation and a letter-of-medical-necessity route toward HSA or FSA reimbursement. That is a seller-described process, not an assurance that you qualify or that reimbursement will be approved.
How to compare it with another automatic box
Use the same criteria for each machine: usable interior and cat-fit limits, footprint and weight, safety design and the quality of evidence behind it, accepted litter types, waste-bin and refill capacity, recurring supply costs, daily and deep-cleaning effort, app and network requirements, how noise was measured, price, and warranty and return terms. No independent head-to-head test covers the CS106 against its rivals, so manufacturer capacity figures alone cannot establish a winner.
Sources and dates
- HomeRunPET official US product page, accessed 7 October 2026: specifications, listed terms, included items and compatibility. These are manufacturer claims.
- Cats.com CS106 review: reports several weeks of reviewer testing. Publication date not stated in the source.
- Zoolory hands-on review, 16 June 2026: states the manufacturer supplied the review unit and that the article contains affiliate links.
- iTechGuides review, 4 October 2026: maintenance caveats and a note that listed capacities are manufacturer specifications rather than independent capacity tests.
The Bottom Line
The CS106 is worth it only when the space and the cats fit. Buy it if you have a large cat or several cats, a measured hard-floored spot with clearance for the radar, a budget that covers the listed price and ongoing supplies, and acceptance that you will still empty the waste drawer, refill the reservoir and clean the unit periodically. Skip it if your cat is very small or young and you cannot rely on Kitten Protection Mode, if your space is tight, or if you want a box that needs no attention.
