But availability has changed: Purina’s current U.S. Beyond page says the food is no longer available. The review is useful for understanding the recipes and their tradeoffs, not as a guide to what you can reliably buy now.
Is Purina Beyond cat food still sold in the U.S.?
No. Purina’s current U.S. Beyond page says, “Unfortunately, Beyond pet food is no longer available.” Older retailer listings, review links, and prices do not establish that a product is currently in stock or in suitable condition. If you encounter a listing, confirm the exact recipe, package, seller, and condition before considering it.
What did Cats.com think of Purina Beyond?
Kate Barrington’s Cats.com review, updated June 17, 2026, gave the brand 7/10 overall, or 42/60 points and a B grade. The category scores were 7/10 for species-appropriateness, 7/10 for ingredient quality, 6/10 for product variety, 7/10 for price, 8/10 for customer experience, and 7/10 for recall history. These are the review’s editorial ratings, not a veterinary consensus or a guarantee about every recipe.
The review covered a historical range of dry and wet foods and treats, including grain-free and grain-inclusive, limited-ingredient, organic, indoor, high-protein, and topper options. It highlighted three recipes: Grain-Free Simply Wild-Caught Whitefish & Cage-Free Egg dry food, Simply White Meat Chicken & Whole Oat Meal dry food, and Cage-Free Turkey, Sweet Potato & Spinach in Gravy canned food. The review assigned the two dry recipes B- grades and the turkey wet recipe a B+.

How did the reviewed recipes differ?
| Recipe | Form and review grade | What the review noted |
|---|---|---|
| Simply Wild-Caught Whitefish & Cage-Free Egg | Dry; B- | The reviewed recipe listed 34% minimum crude protein and 12% maximum moisture. Cats.com calculated 38.64% protein and 31.82% carbohydrates on a dry-matter basis. Those dry-matter figures are the reviewer’s calculations, not label guarantees. The analysis noted animal protein sources alongside plant ingredients and relatively high carbohydrate content. |
| Simply White Meat Chicken & Whole Oat Meal | Dry; B- | The review noted animal protein sources along with plant ingredients and relatively high carbohydrate content. Dry food also has less moisture than canned food. |
| Cage-Free Turkey, Sweet Potato & Spinach in Gravy | Wet; B+ | The review’s analysis found more moisture and a higher dry-matter protein share than in the dry recipes, while noting wheat gluten and several animal protein sources. |
The differences matter more than the brand name alone. A multi-protein food may not suit a cat with a suspected food allergy, and a retail food should not be treated as allergy therapy. Ask a veterinarian about a diet change for allergies or another medical need.

How should you compare cat-food labels?
Purina’s cat-food label guide explains that ingredients are listed in descending order by weight. A prominent ingredient or marketing phrase alone does not establish that one food is nutritionally better than another. Check the complete label, including:

For a replacement food, first account for your cat’s life stage and any health constraints, then compare that product’s own label. Similar ingredients or the same manufacturer do not make two foods interchangeable. If a change relates to illness, weight, allergies, or another medical need, consult your veterinarian.

Purina’s July 30, 2014 launch announcement described the range at that time as containing no corn, wheat, soy, poultry by-product meal, or added artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, and said Beyond dry foods were made in Purina-owned U.S. facilities. That is historical launch-era positioning, not a current catalog or a description of every later recipe.

Cats.com reported U.S. manufacturing and ingredient sourcing in North America and other countries, and said Beyond had not been recalled as of its June 17, 2026 review. Purina’s current recall FAQ states that there is no Purina cat-food recall. Both statements should be understood as time-bound reports from the named publisher or manufacturer, not independent plant inspections or promises about future recalls. Purina also reports company-wide quality controls, including 100,000 daily U.S. checks, on its nutrition page; that figure is company-reported and is not a Beyond-specific test result.
