Nemo and Mykonos are two dogs in the ASPCA’s care at its Cruelty Recovery Center in Columbus, Ohio. The ASPCA describes them as affectionate and ready for adoption, but their backgrounds and needs differ: Nemo may be shy with new people and would thrive with a confident dog, while Mykonos is energetic and is working on her dog manners.
Nemo: a shy start, then a playful companion
The ASPCA says Nemo came into its care after being rescued from a suspected dog-fighting operation. She may be nervous around unfamiliar people at first, but becomes affectionate as she warms up. Treats and toys are among the things she enjoys.
In foster care, Nemo cuddled on the couch and played with a canine foster brother. The ASPCA says she behaved well around the foster family’s senior dog and cats and was a star in dog playgroups. The organization says she would thrive with a confident canine sibling.
Nemo’s ASPCA adoption profile currently lists her as a 2-year-old, 40-pound female. It notes that she can be nervous in new environments and has benefited from training and socialization. The profile says she has played with dogs who enjoy rough-and-rowdy play and invites prospective adopters to apply and arrange a meet-and-greet.

Mykonos: energetic, affectionate, and learning
The ASPCA says the NYPD found Mykonos in New York, underweight and living in poor conditions with many dogs. The ASPCA medical team rehabilitated her before she moved to the Cruelty Recovery Center in Columbus.
Since then, Mykonos has joined a run-club outing, met new people, and enjoyed the experience. She also likes quiet snuggles. The ASPCA describes her as excitable and loving, and says she would benefit from an understanding adopter who can guide her and help improve her dog manners.

Her ASPCA adoption profile currently lists her as a 5-year-old, 49-pound female. It also describes volunteer sleepovers, housetraining, comfort in a car, and success in dog playgroups. The profile says she appears to prefer male dogs, is working on leash manners, and can get excited when she sees other dogs outdoors. It describes her as eager to learn and invites adoption applications.
