Banana won the 2026 Seahawks Corgi Cup, the halftime corgi race at the Seahawks–Chargers Week 4 game. The Independent reported that she built a lead, then glanced back at the dogs behind her—a moment the outlet compared to Usain Bolt looking back during the 2016 Olympic 100-meter semifinals.
What happened in the Seahawks Corgi Cup?
The Seahawks’ official video page identifies the clip as the 2026 Corgi Cup at halftime of the Seahawks–Chargers game. The Independent reported on October 5, 2026, that Banana won the race and looked back at the other dogs as she led. The Usain Bolt reference is the publication’s comparison of the gesture, not a quote from Bolt, Banana’s owner, or a Seahawks representative.

Who is Banana the corgi?
On its current Corgi Cup page, the Seahawks describe Banana as a cuddly sweetheart who becomes a “PARK MENACE” on grass, barking and chasing anything that moves. The team profile lists her as five years old, 11 inches tall, and 20 pounds; those are profile details supplied by the Seahawks, not independently verified measurements.

Why did Banana look back?
The available report describes what Banana did but does not establish why she glanced back. It may read as confidence or sass to viewers, but that is an interpretation of the moment rather than a confirmed explanation from her owner or the team. The Bolt comparison captures the visual joke: a leader checking behind her while the race is still unfolding.

How this race differs from the 2025 Corgi Cup
The 2026 race is not the same event as the Seahawks’ 2025 Corgi Cup. That earlier race took place at halftime of the Seahawks–Saints game on September 21, 2025. The Seahawks’ 2025 profile described Banana as four years old, 11 inches tall, and 23 pounds, and noted that she was photogenic and fearful of kitchens and refrigerators. Those are prior-season profile details, not the current profile.
