In a video shared by his owner, Tori, Sully reacts to news of an upcoming stay by rushing to the door, choosing a toy, and eagerly climbing into the car.
Sully’s reaction starts before the trip
Tori, who posts Sully’s videos on TikTok as @sullytheblacklab, tells him that she has to leave for a work trip. She then explains that Sully will stay with his grandparents, who are Tori’s parents and live nearby.
Rather than looking worried about Tori leaving, Sully immediately becomes excited. He runs toward the door, wags his tail, and waits as if he has been promised his favorite outing. Before leaving, he picks out a toy to bring for the overnight stay.
He cannot wait to arrive
Sully climbs into the vehicle’s trunk for the journey. During the drive, he looks toward the front of the car while Tori asks whether he is excited to see his grandparents.

Why the video attracted so much attention
The appeal is simple: Sully does not merely tolerate being left with family—he seems to regard the visit as a special holiday. His anticipation builds from the moment Tori mentions his grandparents, and his enthusiastic greeting confirms that the feeling is mutual.
A Yahoo News syndicated report published on October 6, 2025, said the video had passed 2 million views. The report also described Sully’s account at that time as having more than 300,000 TikTok followers and 160,000 Instagram followers. Those numbers were snapshots from the time of publication and may have changed.
Yahoo News and BuzzFeed Japan reported that a separate 2023 video showing Tori surprising Sully with a visit to his grandparents’ home had received more than 20 million views and 2.7 million likes.

This is excitement, not distress
It would be easy to frame any video about a dog being separated from his owner as emotional or upsetting. Sully’s behavior in this clip points in the opposite direction. He runs to the door, gets into the car willingly, and rushes to greet his grandfather.
That does not establish anything about Sully’s broader emotional health, but the footage itself shows an eager dog heading to a familiar and rewarding place—not a Labrador struggling with separation anxiety.
One detail worth keeping straight
Sully’s “grandparents” are his human family members through Tori; they are not his biological relatives. This clip should also not be confused with a separate 2022 video in which Sully was told rules before staying with his grandparents. That older video circulated under a related account name, @sullytheblacklab2.0.
