Better treats and sensible portions
If you want to share a little food, VCA lists unseasoned cooked meat as a possible treat. A cat treat suitable for your cat’s diet is another option. Keep treats occasional and small; your cat’s complete and balanced food should remain the nutritional foundation.
General treat limits are not prosciutto allowances. VCA says treats should account for no more than 10% of total daily calories. Cornell’s rule of thumb is 10–15% of daily calorie intake, and it notes that treats are not nutritionally complete and should be occasional. Neither figure establishes a safe amount of prosciutto.
